MSU vs Georgia

part of it was being forced to play a walk on, Costello would have been a lot more likely to make free throws and play solid D

It all started with Trice not paying attention and snowballed from there.

Hey, we are where we expected to be. 23-11 into the round of 32 in the NCAA Tourney. Virginia is going to be a bigger challenge, really think we got under seeded, but it is what it is.

Whatever happens from here on out I am pleased with this season. It was a down year and we still finished 3rd on the conference, made it to the conference tourney finals, and the round of 32 in the NCAA tourney. Before the season started I would have been happy with that. SO if we happen to beat UVA on Sunday I will be elated with the season.

Love the talent we have coming in next season and think that team should be better than this one.

I never post on this board, but that is such a loser's mentality to have. You guys are an elite program, and making the Sweet 16 is a regular thing. Expectations changed after you made a run to the championship game and have been playing a lot better. I don't buy the fact that you'll be okay with a one and done NCAA run.

Every season is different. You can't just expect to be amazing next year regardless of who you have coming in. Chemistry could not work, injuries can happen, etc... Don't set yourself up for the "Oh well, we reached my expectations of winning one tournament game." Your program is better than that.

For your program, losing in the round of 32 is a failed season. That's what happens when you are in the upper echelon of NCAA bball.

I don't think most of us would be happy with a loss Sunday. But at least for me, this team has already exceeded my expectations coming into the season. We lost 3 starters, 2 subs and Russell Byrd from last years team and really didn't have a heralded class coming in. As much as some here have bitched about Izzo this year, I actually think he did one of his best coaching jobs. There isn't a single guy on this roster that will play in the NBA.

I'm just glad our "down year" is a tourney team capable of making a run.

If Belmont can hang with Virginia and maybe beat them I am positive MSU can beat them..

Virginia is a decent team. They're wisconsin who doesn't shoot the three quite like Wisc does.

Also Gotime, Valentine will play in the NBA.

I just looked at the bracket man either Virginia or MSU have a cakewalk for whoever wins..

whatever, i know there are a lot of teams wishing they "almost" blew a game at the end

Because when things dont change, being up a fair amount then missing free throws turning the ball over playing poor d WILL EVENTUALLY translate into another uncalled for loss, just like Wisc. I guess its expected a few times per year but this is half of our games. Its easier to feel better when the game is over but eveyone is pissed off at watching this repeatedly during a game.

MSU hasn't lost a first round game until 2006, pretty impressive. The only team that I can think of not to lose in the first round in that long other than maybe Kansas?

Virginia -5 starting out, exactly what I thought it would be. They were also favored last year and we had a bit more firepower so I dont feel quite as comfortable going in this time. Were going to have to play one hell of a game to pull this one off.

Kansas lost in the first round the same year.

Kansas lost in the first round the same year.

It might not be the most well known streak in the world but I think only 6 teams have made every tournament since 2006 with Kansas, Duke, MSU, Wisconsin, Gonzaga and Louisville. I can think of first round losses for most of those teams

Does anyone know what time our game will be on Sunday? I am assuming Duke will be the second game in Charlotte.
