MSU vs MTSU

Weve been playing with house $ for a long time. Many years weve exceeded expectations and this tourney was the one year weve been waiting to drop a game to a big underdog. We were outhustled on the boards and izzo really did a poor job of using the correct lineups. I dont know why he wants to sit superior players or pull players once they start feeling it but he does. I think our luck just ran out.

Again we see Michigan fans dedicating threads to us, discussing our losses:shrug:. When has there been a thread dedicated to michigan here? I cant remember one in 2-3 years Ive seen dozens there. We are discussed there all the time for some odd reason. Not only that, the fact im discussing it right now is one of the only MENTIONS youll hear about them on this board at any point. I guess getting butt fucked for 10 years in football and 20 years in basketball draws that kind of negative attention.

And yet some uofm knucklehead will accuse you/us of being obsessed for mentioning their obsession. The funny thing is they are taking a victory lap over our loss when MTSU would have beaten them or ND by 30 last night.

Their team blew a game where they led by 12 at halftime. And yet most probably still consider yesterday a good day. So yeah, pretty pathetic.

They've obviously fell quite far from the days when I was a kid. I've never seen a fan base live through other teams the way they have lately. It's fucking hilarious.

Their game threads are pure comedy gold. Between their love/hate flip flopping of players and Bob's constant excuse making. Sometimes I follow game threads of games I'm not even watching just for the hilariousness.

Michigan's biggest wins in the last year were our game vs Bama and yesterday. I've given up on arguing with them, at least on their board. It's all blind homerism, they're the most delusional fan base, reduced to living through other teams that can beat us.

They're a joke. Their glory days are long gone.

As for next year, the next few weeks will be important. The season hinges on deyonta Davis and Josh Jackson. If we have neither were a contender for the big ten title. If we have both were a national title favorite. Jackson will likely be a preseason all American, maybe the best freshman since Anthony Davis

Forbes and Valentine were 36% on 25 shots. Costello and Davis were 78% on 18 shots. Sometimes its good to look beyond the total number. Of those 14 turnovers that you mentioned, not a single one was by a post player. Every single one was by a guard. We were not efficient on offense unless we were going through the post.

We were down 1 pt with 3:34 to go and went 1-5 from 3, mixed in with 2 of the worst traveling offenses I've ever seen from Harris and Denzel to finish the game. Not one single attempt from a post player.
The offense needed to go to the post but that isn't an argument for dd to be on the floor with Costello. As long as we had one of those guys out there we were going to score. The reason we lost was inability to cover a stretch 4 and Costello having to guard a center who shot 41% from 3, that meant that we didn't have the help defense that we usually rely on. That changes spacing and our rebounding %, on offense mtsu got 38% of their missed. We got 31% which is inexcusable but having Davis and Costello out on the perimeter changed everything, they couldn't get on position the way they were accustomed to.

I understand the frustration of playing Colby. I'm sure izzo may be second guessing those lineups too, they killed us on d.

It that all happens it should be a 3 team race next year. Duke and Kentucky's incoming classes rival ours. I assume for Duke Ingram is gone, but if Allen stays (and I think odds are he will) then they are right there. I assume UK will lose Murray but if they keep Ulis with everyone else coming in they'll be there too.

And IF Jackson and Davis are there we should be devastating defensively with more length on the perimeter, once the young guys figure it out. The team won't shoot it like this team but will hopefully be able to get to the rim and the free throw line more often. Some leaders will need to emerge. Nairn will be one, but I'm not even sure how many minutes he'll play if he can't smooth out some of his rough edges, and there are no other obvious candidates right now to help with that leadership role.

I don't really have a problem with Michigan fans making fun of us for losing yesterday. It's part of a rivalry. I made fun of them for a long time after they lost to App State, and I enjoyed seeing Duke lose to Lehigh a few years ago in similar fashion to us. However, I don't understand the fans that are overall happy yesterday when we both lost. The loss to ND would pretty much negate any joy taken from the MSU loss.

We struggled rebounding and guarding the perimeter. Davis is our best big man at both. He completely shut Nigel Hayes down a month ago.

Izzo loves to break a player down and build him back up and I just think that hurt the team this year. Davis could have helped this team much more than he did and I guarantee Izzo is regretting how he handled him. At least he better be, because he's got some amazing talent coming in next year and he better have learned from his mistakes.

Hey, outside of sucking the puss out of the pimples on Harbaugh's asshole, that's all they have. UM fan has been humiliated and defeated by their rivals over and over and over again, it's amazing they still have fans. Remember when they used to tell people that ND was a bigger rival than we are? Well you just lost to that rival last night and all you can talk about is MSU. 2-13 vs OSU in Football, 1-7 vs MSU in Football, 31-0 the last time they played ND in Football, 4 in a row including a beat down this year to MSU in B Ball, Losing to the Buckeyes in C-Bus in B Ball this year, getting knocked out of the tourney after blowing a 13 point lead to ND, Whoa, he has trouble with the snap...It's been one long well deserved nightmare for Michigan athletics and their two biggest wins the last several years have been by Bama and MTSU, it doesn't get much lower that that, but it will, the football team is once again over hyped and over rated because they won a bowl game against a totally broken and lifeless FL team. Road games at SS and Columbus are unwinnable for UM this Fall and deep down they know it.

As for Izzo and MSU, top 3 class coming in, I think Davis returns, and Jackson commits too, should be preseason top 3 if all that happens. GO GREEN!

Braindeadbob may be the simplest poster on DSF. The whining would drive me nuts if I was a uofm fan who took this half seriously. It's amazing how someone can follow something so closely yet understand so little about it.

That's pretty good. And it's spot on for at least a handful of posters over there. But, I have to say it's definitely doesn't apply to all - from my perspective anyway. Most uofm fans I know personally and a few here, are gracious, good sports that share a similar allegiance to mine - school, state, conference, in that order.

My facebook feed today (and going there was probably my first mistake) is littered with giddy UM fans, who apparently weren't aware or forgot that their team played a winnable game and lost last night. And yes they are all of the Walmart variety, which should surprise no one.

It may not be an argument for having DD on the floor with Costello but it's an argument for having DD on the floor over Colby Wollenman. There is no excuse for having such a useless person on the floor for the last 5 minutes of a game in question. As for rebounding - it wasn't all about spacing, it had a lot to do with heart and desire. There were so many times when it was 3 on 1 to our advantage and the MTSU guy came down with the ball.

I'm totally fine with a team that doesn't shoot it like this one. We lived and died by the 3 this year and it was clear from the BTT and some other games that we were in trouble if/when we hit a cold streak.

Did we die with the 3? We shot 45% yesterday. We live and die with defense and rebounding and we were poor in both areas. Of course mtsu deserves a lot of credit. Being able to spread the floor and keep Costello and Davis away from the rim just killed us. We play good team defense but we don't have great individual defenders like a Dawson or Gary Harris.

not yesterday but over the course of the season, our fortunes, at least offensively were tied to the 3. We were probably more consistently weak on defending against the dribble drive but when we were hitting shots, it mattered a lot less.

Yesterday, we may not have died by the 3 but we became overly reliant on it at times. It's sort of a double edged sword because hitting 3s was what got us back in the game on at least a few of those 2nd half rallies but once we got to within 1 or two possessions we kept jacking them up, not rebounding and falling behind again.

My point is, I'd rather not rely too heavily on perimeter shooting to overcome other weaknesses like the inability to stop a player going to the rim. I'd be totally fine to not lead the nation in 3 pt shooting over the course of a season and have a team that doesn't have any glaring weaknesses. I'm not saying I want a team that can't shoot 3s, just that i'd happily trade down a few spots in the rankings in that category for a more well rounded team.

This post is peppered with reality. :lmao:

I'm not watching the game so I don't know if Syracuse is defending a lot better but MTSU is 2 for 10 from 3 and shooting 28% from the field twelve minutes into the first half...awesome, thanks a lot assholes.

Defending much better both on the perimeter and on the inside. They have held Upshaw to just one basket. Also dominating them on the inside on the offensive end.

No clue how State let this team hang with them let alone beat them.
