RIP Iain Banks

It seems like Authors are going down like flies in 2013.
 
Until I clicked this thread I had no idea Tom Clancy died on Oct. 3rd.
 
Yeah I should have posted that too.. I remember hearing about it but forgot about it... I liked a lot of the books he wrote that were made into movies... I think the only one I read was the Hunt for Red October though...

I also so that Elmore Leonard died.. Both of those guys wrote a ton and all three writers had a big followings..

He wrote a ton of books and I haven't gotten to many of them, but my two favorites are:

1) "The Sum of All Fears"... the movie was pretty good, but lacked the suspense and buildup of the book.

2) "Red Storm Rising"... really great look at what a (mostly) conventional war between the US and USSR would have looked like in the mid eighties. By the time Hollywood got around to making movies out of his books the USSR had collapsed, but I would have loved to see this made into a movie.
