MSU vs DaBulls

This is FAR from the worst team you've seen. Remember John L Smith? Bobby Williams? If this team doesn't win 6 games then maybe comparison to JLS and BW teams will be warranted. But the schedule alone should get us 6 victories.

Disagree. Bobby and John L teams did not looks this bad. Its not close

Bobby and John L each had 1 winning and 0 .500 seasons and only John L's winning season was also a winning season in conference. Bobby won 2, 3 and 2 conference games in three seasons - his first was 5-6 (2conf wins) w/ a team that went 9-2 the year before. John L won 5, 4, 2 and 1 - his one "winning" season was a game above .500. And both had 4x the arrests we've had under Dantonio. Do you recall the field goal attempt to end the first half vs. OSU? ND 2006, any of JLS' press conferences? You're right about one thing -it's not even close.

This is a really bad looking team right now but you're nuts if you think this is the worst MSU team since Saban left. Remember that debacle of 2006? That was the worst IMO.

You have a bad memory erg. Our offense is worse now, but overall, we are still better than those train wrecks back then. That period of MSU football was terrible.

records at this juncture are not good comparison. That 2-0 team O is worse than any the Bobby or JLS fielded

Well, can we at least wait and see what happens in the B1G before saying this is the worst of a lifetime. Remember Bobby Williams had 2 B1G victories in a season twice and the most he ever won was 3. John L's last 2 teams won 2 & 1 B1G victories, respectively. And neither of them ever had anything close to a top 5 defense. Also, as bad as it was at 3-5 last year the team held together and competed. Under BW & JLS the teams fell apart and guys started getting arrested left and right around or just after the mid-point in the season. So if this team goes 3-5 again, MAYBE you could make the case but based on the data, there's no way you can say it's not close...

Don't forget that JLS' only B1G win in 06 came against NU when they stormed back from 35 down in the 2nd half, so if not for a one in a million comeback the other 999,999 times they would have gone 0-8 in B1G play.

I stand corrected. Guess it has been worse.

Msu will get this figured out for the b10 season. Just not against Michigan. :)

they also blew some leads that would have been safe 99% of the time

Not in B1G play they didn't, not that I recall. I remember they lost to lowly Illinois on a last second field goal the week after the ND disaster and got totally outplayed every other game that year, totally gave up.

I think his point is that the '06 JLS team snatched defeat from the jaws of victory in ways no other team could or would have - I don't think he was defending that squad.
