Trade Deadline

They mentioned there is interest in Kaiser. I doubt it, especially at his salary.

Salary retention would be too long to be practical and makes more sense to save the last retention for moving Green.

Boston acquires Nick Holden

NYR acquires a 3rd rounder and Rob O'Gara

Holden is a 2nd pairing D-man and I doubt Gara will turn into anything at the NHL level. Maybe a 6th/7th defensive D-man.

Getting only 4rd round pick for Marek is a joke. Holland Botched this deal. But then the Wings are Cap Hell because of Holland. Wings could have tender Marzek for 4 million next year , and then Howards deal would be up. This is just a terrible deal and totally stupid by Holland . Why freaking rush into a deal ? Giving up on a 26 year goalie was dumb.. this same deal would have been there next week also. No reason to pull the trigger on a deal.

9 million is too much to spend on goaltending.

Wings have been sour on Mrazek for a while, him leaving is best thing for him. Given his cap hit (and number to qualify him) that money is better used to ensure keeping the new forwards on the team.

There really wasn't much of a market for a goalie.

Plus Philly has a 6 point lead with 20 games left. The more games the more chance Mrazek gets to 6 wins with Philly which upgrades us to a 3rd.

Odds are Philly won't qualify him and he will sign somewhere else under 2.5 million as a UFA. And if Philly resign him, boom another 3rd round pick.

Yeah its dumb. Marzek is better and younger then Howard. Sadly another player mismanaged by Holland and Detroit. Detroit could have tender him for 4th million next season and then if he still sucks the same type of deal could have been had plus next year Howards money comes off the books anyway... all I am saying is this deal would have been there next week. Should have gotten more. Remember the Tampa Bay series in the playoffs ? He was great .way better then Howard.

Backup goalie with a GAA around 3. He hasn't exactly been stellar last year. Keep in mind Vegas could have picked him and tried to flip him. There is rarely a big market for goalies as there are so many of them and so few positions available.

He has potential to be great, but hasn't been consistent. He's shown stretches this year he can be dominant.

Next few years Wings are better with him gone and money spent elsewhere.

I hope your right but Holland sold way to low in my opinion there were other option to try and squeeze more out of the Flyers.

Panther Acquire Vatrano
A youngster player 4th line minutes who scored 18 points in 44 games last season. Only 2 in 18 during current season.

Boston Acquire: 3rd round pick.

I guess Boston concluded they didn't need him with the development of Heinen (30 PTS in 54 GP, rookie season) and De Brusk (29 PTS in 54 GP, rookie season).

Wonder if Boston will use the pick for a rental.

NHL Network, live look in - Mrazek playing.. First save was an awesome one. Hate to root for Philly but lets get the better draft pick.
