I agree that you cant blame him for the injuries and that no one thought this would be a cup contender. But hockey coaches seem to have a shelf life, you almost never see a coach last as long as Babcock has with Det. For some reason it seems like after a while the players tune the coach out. It does always seem that the same coaches just get rehired by another team, how many teams have Hitchcock and Quenneville coached in the past few years.

I think he makes a lot of valid points. I was just thinking, as I watch the Wings play the Canucks, that it seems to be an absolute no brainier that Tartar belongs with the big boys and hopefully stays when the injuries clear up. I think you can categorize his not starting the season in the NHL with the point he makes about Smith. I didn't like the signing of Samuelson again but I did like the Tootoo signing. Personally, I think he is still earning his keep but I'd love to see Stevie Y take his job sometime soon.

I agree with some of that article. Alot of his points are the benefits of hindsight. Everyone praised Holland for finding a way around the cap with the Franzen and Zetterberg deals at the time, its just that Franzen didnt improve like everyone thought, and i think injuries have taken their toll on Zetterberg.

With Brendan Smith, where was he going to play up until last year? Losing #5, Rafalski, and Stuart now makes the D thin but when he was drafted there was a lot of depth along the blue line so smith would have been scratched most games. I for one would rather get a player experience in the AHL than having him sit most games.

Believe me i hated Robert Lang just about more than anyone, but those are the kinds of moves teams make that are cup contenders. Mortgage the future to win in the present, you never know how prospects will turn out it sucks that we gave away some great players but its also possible that those players could have never turned out and if lang wasn't a huge pile of shit he could have helped win the cup. We have the benefit of knowing now that isnt what happened but at the time that deal was praised around the whole league.

I guess my point is, its very easy to criticize things that didnt work out but when those decisions are being made its sort of a bet, you take what you think are the best odds and hope it works out. Holland has been disappointing the last few chances he has had to improve the team and i think he deserves criticism for it, i just hope people remember its not as easy to get great moves done in real life as it is to discuss them on the internet.

I do think Holland does deserve some criticism for his lack of action in the past two years. So better start or not i still think this would have been a story. It was no secret to anyone this year was going to be a struggle if there weren't some major changes made to the team. Holland made very few changes and deserves some criticism even thought its not all his fault that players did not decided to come to Detroit.

Begin Anti Kindl Rant- White is out while the turnover machine that is Kindl stays in the lineup. I understand getting him the pt he needs to get over these, but it is so hard to watch him make mistake after mistake, how long will they let this go? His offensive game is neutralized because he is so bad defensively. I do not think he has a future with us and am tired of watching him play. End Rant

Actually the last few games Kindl has played really well. White has been a far worse defender over the past few games. Over their careers White is the better player but i like what Babcock is doing and playing the hot hands at the moment. Who knows maybe Kindl has finally turned the corner? that would certainly help the wings out a lot and make them able to move white to maybe find some more offense for the bottem lines.

Generating offense for which team? His turnovers come at costly times because he is looking to make that great lead pass, but takes too long and turnover. Quincey and Kindl want so badly to make an excellent play, when the simple play would work just fine. Just get the damn puck to the forwards in any way possible and try not to be the reason they just scored. Accountability, they don't have any.

Kindl leads our defense with 14 giveaways, he has only played 15 games. Quincey 10 giveaways in 20 games. White has 8 in 14 games. Maybe he is a great shot blocker? No, Kronwall 33, Lashoff 28, Kindl 14 same as Smith, but he has only played 11 games. White has 16 in 14 games.

I agree that his play has picked up, and I want him to be in the lineup over an older player, but he frustrates me. He probably needs this time to get his game going, but I am running low on patience with 26 year olds that make plays like they just turned 20. The time has come for him to have it figured out.

I meant he had played well just the past 3 or so games not the whole season. He will never reach the expectations put on him to be the next top pair Defenseman with Kronwall but i don't think he is as bad as a lot of people make him out to be. Don't get me wrong im not a huge fan of his, but i think if he gets a little PT and some confidence he could be a sold 3-6 guy on the back end. I saw him play a lot in GR and he was really good there, so he has some skill. I just think hes got a few mental issues from bad mistakes but that can be cured with some consistent playing time so the game slows a bit.
