I loved watching the Detroit Lion's legendary Safety, Punter, Punt and Kick Returner. Yale Lary to this day is my All-Time favorite Detroit Lion.
Yale Lary was the "Original Hang Time Punter" and a fearless safety who shut down other teams passing game of at least half the field.
To this day, I will never understand why Yale Lary's uniform # 28 was never retired.
Jim Brown gave him the highest compliment when Brown said, "There were two players I went up against that gave me the toughest time in the open field, Night Train' Lane, and Yale Lary".

Lary recorded 50 interceptions and averaged 44.3 yards per punt during his 12 games a season career.
He was named All-NFL five times, voted to nine Pro Bowls and selected to the NFL’s All-Decade Team of the 1950s
Lary remains third on the Lions all-time interceptions list, and his 787 career interception return yards rank second in Detroit history behind Lem Barney’s 1,015.
He also won punting titles in 1959, 1961 and 1963, missed another one in 1962 by 3.6 inches. During the 1960 season, Detroit opponents averaged less than one yard per return on his punts. From the end zone, Lary could consistently punt past midfield with enough hang time to let coverage get down and do its work. He once recorded a string of six games and 32 punts with no returns and he had just four of his 503 punts blocked in his career.
For many of you younger guys here, Yale Lary is another Lion's name in their pantheon of greats and Hall of Famers.
