RIP Hugh Hefner

I "knew" her - in the Biblical sense - in college. If yaknow whatta mean.

that's my Hugh Hefner story.

There are no words...

judging from the comments threads on any given internet site, most people have words about him, actually. words about jerkin' off and porn. mostly. some people also mention smoking jackets.

My story like that goes back to about 1984 or 1985.

When I had my snowboard shop in Vail, my buddy somehow convinced three 'bunnies' who were doing some other promotion in town to come to the store with him afterwards. They spent a good hour trying on different outfits and were openly changing between different jackets and pants in their panties/bra. Not nekked, but damn close and they knew what they were doing. Store was closed for the eve and locked, so it was just about 5 of us and the three of them. All three autographed the wall of the store but then some jackass painted over their sigs. Ironically enough, my old store is now home to the Jeannie Thoren Women's Ski Clinic.

Then about 10yrs ago when my Dad was moving out of a house in CO he found a box in his basement - in a compartment he'd never known of, under the basement stairs. In that box was the entire 1973 year (the oldest issue in the collection coming from Jan 73, month I was born) of Playboy and issues up through the early-80's. Farah Fawcett ..Bo Derek ..all in mint condition, thanks to Colorado's dry climate and cooler basement conditions. The Ads and articles are hilarious to read by today's standards and there is one in particular - from 1979 - that mocks Noter Dame for constantly being overrated. You'd never know it wasn't written in 2016. I am now owner to said collection and have inventoried each issue. The collection was estimated to be about $1500 ...presumably higher now with Heff's passing.

I met a Playboy Mexico covergirl a couple years ago at the Opening Day at Del Mar Racetrack and she and a few other chicks all walked around topless back at my buddy's place in Rancho Santa Fe.

My late mother who was an antiques collector, frequently brought home grocery-bags full of comic books and magazines from garage-yard sales. I had Playboy's complete years of 65-76, including some special ediions @ one time. Other than the PotM, and other nudies, I used to enjoy reading the articles, and Gahan Wilson's macabre iillustrations. 1970 was the year that the mag first began showing bush, IIRC. Penthouse was a bit more graphic, and Hustler was the raunchiest of the well known girlie mags.

Of course we kids never knew how valuable that some of those comic books and magazines would become, and they all eventually were ruined. trashed, or disappeared.
