I wouldn't call any of those 3 players "crap"

1. There was no obligation to trade Verlander. None. The value as a top of the rotation starter should have returned a MLB caliber player in return.

2. A bird in the hand is better than three in the bush. Meaning, a known high caliber MLB pitcher is better than 3 unproven prospects. Perez, the best projected prospect of the 3, only has a projected ceiling on a #2 starter. That is the ceiling. He projects to mid-rotation otherwise and that is still not a guarantee. Daz Cameron is just slight above average as a prospect. He will get to the majors on defense alone. The question is whether he will hit (see Anthony Gose). Jake Rogers is a wild card. He was advanced for his age in A+ ball, so his results can be skewed. But if he comes close to that production in 2018, he moves past James McCann as a catcher. But that isn't saying much. John Hicks, IMHO, should be ahead of McCann.

Sure, the 3 players we received for Verlander all have upsides. But the fact of the matter is that only 1 in three prospects make it. And that includes those that make a 40-man roster. So we are hoping one of these three make it. It is highly improbable all three do. Again, were was the MLB ready player?

Justin Verlander has once again returned to ace form.
If the slider doesn’t make you stumble, the fastball will surely turn you into toast.
