During his struggling second season with Detroit he was sent to Philadelphia at the deadline for a defenseman (contract spot) and a 5th round pick (Mattias Backman who was traded to Dallas as part of the dreaded Cole trade).

Those playoffs he recorded 21 points in 19 games. The following season he recorded 53 points in 81 game. He than signed 6 years $27 million deal with Buffalo where he underperformed and was bought out after 3 seasons.

He started the Bille Beino clothing brand following his buyout from Buffalo.

Quincey (Minnesota) and Tootoo (Chicago) both placed on waivers.

During the 2012 offseason Detroit signed Tootoo to a 3 year $5.7 million contract. Brought in as an tough guy enforcer, who just came off a career high 30 points in Nashville. Tootoo spent parts of two seasons before receiving a compliance buyout from Detroit. He recorded 3 goals, 6 assists, 9 points in 53 games for the Wings. He also played 1 playoff game during the lockout shortened 2012-13 season. To paraphrase Babcock, the reason for being scratched was playoffs were not the time for stupid penalties. (Compared to Abdelkader at 33PIM in 12 playoff games vs 2 PIM for Tootoo in his solo)

Following his departure from Detroit he spent two seasons in New Jersey and is currently on his second season with Chicago, yet to play a single game this season.

Kyle Quincey was originally drafted by Detroit in the 4th round, 134th overall during the 2003 draft. During his first stint with the team he played 13 games recording 1 goal as a callup between 2005-2008. Additionally he played 13 playoff games during the 2006-7 season recording 0 points.

He was lost to LA on waivers before the 2008-9 season and developed into a good offensive defenseman recording 38 points during his rookie season.
During the 2009 offseason was part of a package traded to Colorado to acquire Ryan Smyth. In Colorado he continued to perform well on the powerplay. After playing parts of 3 seasons in Colorado before being re-acquired by Detroit in a 3 team swap involving Tampa Bay at the 2012 trade deadline.. The trade saw Detoit’s 2012 1st round pick along with prospect Sebastian Piche going to Tampa Bay. Current Tampa Bay starter Andrei Vasilevskiy was chosen with Detroit’s 19th overall pick.

Quincey never adjusted well to Detroit’s system and over the years transformed his game from an offensive defenceman into almost a completely defensive defenceman in nature. During his second stint with Detroit over 5 seasons played a total of 256 games recording 14 goals and 34 assists for 48 points.

Departing in summer of 2016, as a free agent, signing with the New Jersey Devils. At the 2017 deadline was traded to Columbus. During the 2017 offseason he signed with the Minnesota Wild.
