Massive Washington Post story on Obama & Russian actions leading up to the election

I'm sick of this story, BTW.

It's completely absurd & harmful for a number of reasons:
1) no hard evidence is ever actually disclosed
2) even if the Russians did hack our election, it isn't realistically going to change jack shit we do, or who is president
3) it distracts everyone from actual political events that effect us occurring in DC
4) like we haven't actively interfered in just about every election that has occurred around the world since 1945, including in Russia in the 90's.

I couldn't agree more, which is totally weird for both of us.

it still doesn't add up... the CIA and FBI have regularly lied to civilian leadership in the senate and courts, destroyed evidence, obsctructed justice whenever they felt like it and generally crapped all over US law when it suits them. Now they had evidence a foreign government was actively influencing our elections and they just sat their for a year+ twiddling their thumbs because they're so respectful of US law and policy that they wouldn't dump all this evidence of foreign meddling out in the open and sink Trump's campaign to the bottom of the Atlantic?

they either knew it was going on and were okay with it for some reason, or the story as its being told -Russia put its finger on the scale for Trump and destabilized our democracy - is not what it seems.

This is the most scary. They knew and dId nothing to stop it, and now Trump, Ryan, and McConnell can't be stopped. It's going to be a long time before the damage they do can be undone.

Naked Capitalism's summary of this latest DUMP from the WaPo is pretty good. Contains this line that sums up the ultimate question here: "So what kind of sense does it make that information that could delegitimize a Presidential election was never made public until after the election?" also i forgot about how they kicked around the line about Trump getting the nuclear football during the campaign. if there was really any concern he was unduly influenced by Russia such that national security was on the line, why the fuck did they wait on this "big reveal?" and why is all this Trump/Russia bullshit seemingly timed to be released piecemeal... to keep the story going as long as possible? Yeah...

it's all bullshit. gives the corrupt center-right Democrats like Pelosi, Corey Booker, the Clinton camp, etc an opportunity to appear to oppose Trump while not actually opposing anything the GOP does. Notice members of the ACTUAL opposition like Sanders haven't been humping this story for all its worth.

complete bullshit.

Or they can't reveal the evidence without exposing how they got it and losing a source of information.

OK. I guess I'm officially wrong here. How do I know? 'Cause Trump is saying some of the same stuff.

"Well I just heard today for the first time that Obama knew about Russia a long time before the election, and he did nothing about it," Trump said in an excerpt of his interview on Fox News' "Fox and Friends" released Friday. "But nobody wants to talk about that."
"The CIA gave him information on Russia a long time before they even -- before the election," Trump said. "And I hardly see it. It's an amazing thing. To me, in other words, the question is, if he had the information, why didn't he do something about it? He should have done something about it. But you don't read that. It's quite sad."

...unless that exactly what Russia wants Trump to say!

Dun Dun Dunnnn!

if it's not worth divulging in order to keep a dangerously compromised man out of the White House, this must be some source...

In the article, they portray the WH attitude before the election as one of certainty that Clinton would win, which tempered the need to act boldly & quickly. There was also a fear that Russia would do more if they went public.

After the election, it's not like closing the barn doors is going to do any good. If there's clear evidence that came from methods they don't want to expose, I imagine they'd (they being the intel agencies) still try to deal with things quietly and only reveal information as needed when they hit roadblocks.

There are no new details.

Pretty much for sure some Russian hacked the DNC.

Some information got to and was leaked by the Wikileaks dude.

It showed that the "objective, unbiased" DNC rigged the nomination as much as possible in favor of Clinton.

I don't know if that's even true. They recovered that info from Podesta's gmail account and I read the attack was pretty unsophisticated. it was embarassing some dipshit Hillary staffer fell for it.

okay so I found this, reported by the Daily Mail (usually known as the Daily Fail) last December.

a former British MP, and current associate of wikileaks claims he flew to DC to accept the documents from the "DNC hack" which were actually more of a leak from DNC staffers who were disgusted by the way the DNC put its finger on the scale for Hillary.

maybe the Russians also hacked the DNC, (given how sloppy their security was, a computer savvy 14 year old couldve done it) but the source of the documents was apparently not Russian.

so...

So if you admit that bob may be right, why do you work so hard to defend Trump?

No one will think less of you if you admit that Trump has been a complete disaster to this point, which he has.

Putin toyed with 0bama and The Swamp did everything in its power to cover for him. It's blowing up.

Edit: The Iranians toyed with 0bama as well. Pretty much everyone did.

You have absolutely no fucking clue about what's happened or happening. You're just re-posting garbage you've sought out to reinforce your views. You have no idea what communications took place within the Obama WH, nor what influences have been made with Trump. As of now, all we know is that Russian banks (Russian Mob) has bank-rolled Trump because US/Euro banks would no longer lend money to the deadbeat and he is now answering to Putin.

Putin may have played everyone but he's most certainly played Trump.

I look forward to the investigation and seeing firsthand the facts of the situation and not scouring Google to find alt-news sources like InfoWars and their asinine conspiracy theories about the THEM.

The Trump base is so fucking stupid. Stupid people, embarrassments to America.

it is, and that Russian mob story has been around from almost Day 1 of the presidential campaign. in a sane country it would've more or less disqualified him during the primaries. Of course, his entire career and persona should've disqualified him, but whatever.

I figured if he was actually selling out in a manner that harmed US government or corporate interests directly, they would've buried him with so much bad press during the campaign that even the TigerMuds of the country would've ditched him.

As it is, he's connections are merely "back alley casino" sleazy, not like "national security" sleazy, which actually makes him more useful to the powers that be as they have plenty of "leverage" against him. and look at the results: pretty much his entire cabinet was handpicked by the Kochs or their ilk... not blue collar voters in Scranton, or Wausau, or Grand Rapids as the rubes expected.

And the military has gotten free reign to operate like never before... did you see the articles on how Trump basically delegated decision making authority in Afghanistan & the Middle East to Mattis? should be horrifying to most people.

Absolutely it is.

And what the fuck is with these alleged "conservatives" making excuses for the Russians? Last time I was in Ohio, there were American flags on darling wrap around porches and men had haircuts you could set your watch to. Woody Hayes is fucking rolling in his grave, as would be Bo, for such treasonous acts!

But, instead, it's blame the nigger before Cheeto Bandito. Blame the black guy for things that never happened because he's Black.

Part of me wants to get older quicker just so this last generation holding this mindset finally dies and is gone.

You might be right but let's give him a term. After all, you could also be wrong.

Not a chance in hell we will be wrong about this presidency. It will go down in flames and will be laughed at for years to come. I just hope he dosnt take us all with him. The disaster thise administration will cause will be felt for years to come sadly.

Well the link you provided does not say he blew up at Kushner or Preibus, just in their presence. DeStefano was who he yelled at.
