Random Red Wings Notes

Didn't watch so can't tell yah.

Wings signed Namestnikov as well. He is nephew of Slava Kozlov.

Capfriendly says 2 year deal worth $4 million in total.
It was more of 'does anything think Detroit's a top 5 team? Even on paper.

Didn't watch so don't know the context, it could just be a talking point.

Wings aren't even a top 5 team in their division of 8.

56 games season Detroit playing just 7 teams this year. Not sure if that's better or worse.

Playoff:
Tampa
Columbus
Carolina
Chicago
Dallas

Qualifier Round:
Nashville
Florida

Non-Playoff (granted only 7 teams):
Detroit

If you are on board the tank, this is a good division for you.
If you want competitive hockey, this is a bad division (not even taking into account coaching)

Also Wings traded Tymashov to Islanders for future considerations.

Point Percentage vs Canadian Division:
39.5%

Point Percentage vs Re-alignment Division
23.5%

Overall last season:
27.5%

Thanks. Yep sure looks tough on paper. Hopefully it doesn't get boring playing the same teams over and over. I would have like the original 6 + a couple.

I prefer the remaining 6, that's what survived the Depression/WWII.

Keep in mind the National in NHL refers to Canada.

It wasn't that long ago that Detroit used to play 8 games within division.
Imagine having 29 opposition teams in the league and not managing to play each one in an 82 game season.

For example in 2007-8, Detroit didn't play against Pittsburgh until finals. No regular season games.
Same for Islanders, Devils, Rangers, Flyers.

The other eastern conference teams were only played once.

In this scenario Detroit should play each team 8 times. Not bad, just wish Tank Commander wouldn't handcuff the players with his stupid dump the puck strategy.

Maybe they could play one team 8 straight games, then the next 8 straight and so forth. Make it a home and home, 4 on the road 4 at home.

Schedule is released.
