Boston Red Sox vs. Detroit Tigers, at Fenway Park, June 9, 2017 Matchups, Tickets, Preview.
Baseball Reference

All-Time BOSTON leads 1034-972

Notable:
The Tigers have won the season-series against the Red Sox in four of the past five years, including winning five of seven last season.

Boston has won 11 of its past 17 games to move into second place in the AL East, however the Red Sox were blown out of the water in their two most recent losses to the Yankees.

Detroit will want to avoid seeing Boston closer Craig Kimbrel. Opposing hitters are 2 for their last 41 against Kimbrel. He has struck out 26 of the last 44 batters he has faced.

Zimmermann is coming off one of the best starts of the season. He allowed one run on seven hits in six innings June 3 against the White Sox.
Opposing hitters are batting .308 against Zimmermann, which is the second-worst in the American League. He also has allowed 16 home runs, which is fourth-worst in the AL.
Zimmermann is 2-1 with a 4.84 ERA in four career starts against Boston. Hanley Ramirez is 10 for 26 against Zimmermann, including a home run. Pablo Sandoval is 7 for 17, while Mookie Betts is 2 for 3, including a home run.
Zimmermann is shying away from his fastball more than ever before. Why?
Opponents are hitting the snot out of it, with a .365 batting average and .823 slugging average (!) in 96 at-bats.

Johnson was a 2012 first-round pick by the Red Sox. He has spent most of the season in Triple-A, making eight starts. He has a 2.72 ERA in 46 1/3 innings.
Johnson pitched a complete-game shutout in his last MLB start May 27 against Seattle. He allowed five hits and struck out eight while walking zero. He has never faced Detroit in three career MLB starts.

Johnson is one of three left-handed starters the Red Sox will pitch this series, with Chris Sale and Drew Pomeranz scheduled to go on Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
That would seemingly favor a Tigers lineup that leans heavily right-handed, but Detroit entered Thursday batting .247 off lefties.
It will also likely sideline left-handed-hitting catcher Alex Avila, one of the hottest hitters on the team.

Living here in Boston, there is a blackout of MLB extra innings, so I can't watch the game except on NESN with their announcers Dave O'Brien who iirc was on espn or a national media outlet and long time color man Jerry Remy ex-Angel and RedSox 2B man.
Remy has always knocked both Tiger Stadium and Detroit. As the Red Sox color man, he is an Opinionated shit ass, full of himself.

But past few years in his personal life, he has dealt with lung cancer and his son murdered iirc his wife or GF and is doing life in maximum security.
So I never sent him a twitter to fuck off.
Whatever I watch will probably be on mute.

Sometimes they have Steve Lyons ex-WhiteSox and RedSox, and Dennis Eckersley a couple of real homers and Eck never shuts his pie hole.

Just wanted to share all this with you guys.

Hope one of you will be able to do Saturdays game thread.

The Tigers need to start winning more.. that and it's June 9th and Miggy is still not Miggy enough like.

The Tigers also don't have good track records this year off guys I've never heard of up from the minors. Probably losing tonight. Sorry is it too soon to be negative already tonight?

Miggy without a Home Run in at least 105 at bats per Dan Dickerson.

A couple of places with the game previews I posted I posted in the comments sections the same thing about rookie pitchers and was it 2 the past few weeks making their ML debuts.

I already feel negative about a weekend series in Fenway and the way this team plays doing the cha cha; 2 wins 3 losses, on and on, runners on 2nd and 3rd 0 outs, 0 runs, Not one starter is pitching consistently well.
Probably be a quiet thread, friday night games are usually like that until later in the game.

Losing two of three to The angels just leaves a bad taste time is going to start running out soon if they continue this .500 cha cha for too much longer..I'm gearing up to let er rip tonight!

Zimmerman drilled by a come back liner in the ribs seems to be ok stayin in

Sox Announcers are commenting on McCann's pitch framing or lack there of,
on the 1 and 2 pitch to Bogaerts, it was a strike just above the knees, but McCannt slapped down at the pitch and it was called a ball,
Our starting catcher the front office loves.

Miggy bad throw to 2nd on a DP ball but Iggy gets to the bag in time for one at least, Ferrell challenges the call stupidly and loses the challenge in 2 seconds flat, corners two outs for the whinesoxs

12 pitch at bat from Kinsler gets Johnson's pitch count to 47 after top second,

Huh uh, figured something like that, they were just saying on the foxd broadcast miggy has lost 20 pounds since the start of the season in attempt to reduce load on his back and it shows, his bat has not adjusted to the change in weight
