Although the Rangers were defeated in five games by the Los Angeles Kings in the Stanley Cup finals, the 12 home games contributed more than $20 million to the team's operating income due to more money from tickets, concessions and sponsorships.

The Canadiens have sold out the 21,273-seat Bell Centre, which opened in 1996, for every game since January 2004 despite having the second highest ticket prices in the NHL.

4. Chicago Blackhawks
Current Value: $825 mil.
Revenue 2013-2014: $172 mil.

The Blackhawks winning performance on the ice has translated into the highest average attendance into the NHL last season (21,775) and the largest average local television audience (153,000) on CSN Chicago of any U.S. team.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. Vancouver Canucks
Current Value: $800 mil.
Revenue 2013-2014: $154 mil.
Operating Income 2013-2014: $46.7 mil.

The Canucks and Sportsnet reached a 10-year partnership extension in 2013 for the Rogers Communications network to continue as the team's regional broadcaster through the 2022-23 season and features a comprehensive suite of multimedia rights including television, online and mobile, delivering up to 60 regular season Canucks games each season.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------6. Boston Bruins

Operating Income 2013-2014: $34.5 mil.

Last season, the Bruins posted the third-highest local television rating in the league (5.0) and the second-highest average television audience (123,000) on NESN, the regional sports network of which they own 20%.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
7. Philadelphia Flyers
Current Value: $625 mil.
Revenue 2013-2014: $136 mil.
Operating Income 2013-2014: $11.0 mil.

The team had the fourth-highest average attendance (19,839) in the league last season and charges average prices for non-premium ($72) and premium seats ($185) well above the league averages, according to Team Marketing Report.

Ilitch Holdings, the Ilitch family's holding company that owns the NHL?s Red Wings and MLB?s Detroit Tigers, is scheduled to open a new arena during the summer of 2017, replacing Joe Louis Arena, the oldest arena in the NHL.

MSG has recently been remodeled but it was built 13 years before the Joe. Either way, JLA was built when I was a kid and is now the second oldest arena in the NHL, that makes me feel a bit old. I still remember Olympia - my squirt team practiced there twice the year before the Joe opened because one of my teammate's dad had some connection to the Wings.
