I am in a Facebook group with some players parents and they are saying that He has been having issues with his back and knees and that their belief is its a mutual decision and he wanted to retire.
 
a friend who obsessively reads rivals, scout, etc said Harbaugh told Tolbert "we're not strong enough" when he broke the news.

bring in a guy with more weights to lift!
