the idea is to take a song that you would otherwise like, but had ruined for you by association with someone or something that sucks. songs that you hated anyways don't count.

for me:

You Shook Me All Night Long, by AC/DC, and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. Crappy college band in my dorm freshman year played those two songs over, and over, and over again.

also: Hang on Sloopy, by the McCoys... due to the obvious association with ohio.

I used to love the song Puff the Magic Dragon. Okay, I was little but when someone told me what that song really meant, it blew my mind. And I was crushed.

Werewolves of London and Sweet Home Alabama ruined by that awful Kid Rock song where he rips off the melodies to both, and idiots DJ's on the Detroit/Michigan area radio stations who have a fascination with playing it every 20 minutes.

wait, a minute, I thought Kid Rock was awesome?

Wisconsin ruined Jump Around
many are complicit in ruining 7 Nation Army
Gwen Stefani made a terrible, terrible song out of something from Fiddler on the Roof

One of my college roommates was a big fan of GNR, and I used to delete his mp3 copy of Sweet Child of Mine and rename and replace it with Sheryl Crow's version
