My Gaming Blog

I might have to play The Last of Us. I think it's getting remastered for next gen and there's a rumor the youngest Stark daughter from Game of Thrones is going to be in a movie version of it. That, an Bioshock Infinite completely changed what an escort mission can be.

Never played last of us..it would feel weird seeing a young girl beat down someone with a metal bar or something else. I like Naughty Dog but that freaks me up a bit.

I'll beat down dudes all day long with a metal pipe but not with a young child. I can't get that image out of my head.

For a brief moment later in the game. But you play as Joel (adult) pretty much all game.

I don't play but I occasionally build high end gaming systems. The kid down the street burns them in.

You build HE gaming machines but don't play games?
You read correctly. I understand how the software and hardware interact. I also know what's good hardware and bad hardware. I understand cooling methods. I understand voltages, BIOS, and bandwidths. I'm more shocked at gamers that don't understand hardware.

I build my own machines as well, one just recently. But you don't play games on those bad boys?

I dont know how. I mean, not enough to tax the hardware. The kid just nails on it. Some customers want to overclock but kind of dumb because the hardware these days is incredible. The new Intel's are amazing. The video cards are awesome. I only use seasonic PSU, Asus motherboard, Corsair Vengeance ram, Intel SSD, WD Black spin drives. EVGA NVidia cards, and Asus or Sapphire AMD cards. Liquid cooling varies depending on enthusiast goals.

I build workstations as well for mathematicians, artists, and engineers. Those get very pricey. I have a small following and only customers that want and expect precision.

You should check it out, great game. You only play as the little girl for a short while and if I remember correctly you only use a gun with her and shoot clickers. Its great if you have a headset, the surround sound with the clickers is creepy. The mesh of story line and game play is phenomenal. If you have a redbox close give it a rent, its only 2 bucks a day and only about a 20 hour game with not a lot of replay value.

Everyone seems to want to overclock, for what - an MMO maybe :hehe: I've done it in the past but for the most part it's not worth it..

I used to do workstations for GM back in the days..fun stuff. It's kind of cool knowing you know the hardware because as you said before, most don't. They'd spend thousands on Dell or Alienware when building your own cost considerably less.

Very cool Jdeb. Wish I understood that stuff. I do a lot of math on low-end machines and wish I knew how to stretch my computing budget. I want to get back to FEM/CFD, but I don't have close to the horsepower I'd need.

20 hour games are like 50 for me. I like taking my time..I love the Uncharted series and Naughty Dog is solid. Maybe one day..

The problem is that you have to keep on top of it. Every few months your knowledge is outdated.

Even if it was 20 hrs, at $2 a day, I'm still probably better off buying. By the time I get around to most games, they're usually $10-$20.
