The Cubs and Tigers still haven?t finalized the trade they made in July that saw reliever Justin Wilson and catcher Alex Avila head to Chicago for third baseman Jeimer Candelario, infielder Isaac Paredes and a player to be named later or cash, Mark Anderson of Baseball Prospectus tweets. It turns out the Tigers will receive the PTBNL in lieu of cash, but the teams haven?t decided on which player yet.

November 14 in Tigers and mlb history:

1900: The National League rejects the American League as an equal, declaring it an outlaw league outside of the National Agreement, thus inaugurating a state of war. This follows the AL's announcement two days ago that it has made arrangements to go into Washington, DC, Baltimore and Philadelphia. Two weeks later the American Association makes it a three-way battle, but that third circuit will remain a minor league.

1946: Ted Williams of the Boston Red Sox wins his first American League Most Valuable Player Award. Williams had hit .406 and led the league in home runs in 1941, but had lost the MVP race to Joe DiMaggio of the New York Yankees.
He won the Triple Crown a year later, but lost the MVP to Joe Gordon of the New York Yankees.
This time, Williams beats out Detroit Tigers ace pitcher Hal Newhouser, a two-time winner of the MVP award who finishes second in the balloting.

1957: Milwaukee Braves outfielder Hank Aaron is named National League Most Valuable Player with 239 votes. Stan Musial of the St. Louis Cardinals is a close second with 230, and his teammate Red Schoendienst finishes third with 221.

1961: John Fetzer's purchase of the outstanding one-third interest in the Detroit Tigers makes him sole owner of the club.

1973: Oakland Athletics outfielder Reggie Jackson wins the American League MVP Award in unanimous fashion. The future Hall of Famer led the AL with 32 home runs, 117 RBI, 99 runs and a .531 slugging percentage, in helping the Athletics to their second straight World Series title.

1973: Baltimore Orioles pitcher Jim Palmer is named the 1973 American League Cy Young Award winner. Palmer collected 22 victories and led the circuit with a 2.40 ERA.

1979: Don Baylor of the California Angels wins the MVP Award in the American League. The league leader in both runs scored (120) and runs batted in (139), Baylor also hit .296 with 36 home runs, helping the Angels win the AL West Division and reach the postseason for the first time in franchise history.

1988: The Detroit Tigers signed Jeff Datz as a free agent.

1995: The San Diego Padres sent Tim Hyers to the Detroit Tigers as part of a conditional deal.

2003: The Detroit Tigers signed Warren Morris as a free agent.

2005: The Detroit Tigers signed Chad Durbin as a free agent.
2005: The Detroit Tigers signed Alexis Gomez as a free agent.

2006: The Detroit Tigers signed Steve Torrealba as a free agent.

2006: Justin Verlander becomes the fourth Tiger to win the Rookie of the Year Award. Verlander went 17-9 with a 3.63 ERA in 30 starts as a rookie, also starting Game One of the World Series. He joins Harvey Kuenn, Mark Fidrych, and Lou Whitaker as members of the Tigers to win the award.

2011: The Detroit Tigers signed Darin Downs as a free agent.

2012: Free agent OF Torii Hunter signs a two-year, $26-million contract with the Detroit Tigers.

2012: The Cy Young Awards are announced in both leagues. In the National League, R.A. Dickey of the Mets is the first knuckleballer ever so honored after finishing the year with a record of 20-6, 2.73 and 230 strikeouts.

2012: In the American League, David Price of the Rays edges last year's winner, Justin Verlander of the Tigers, 153 to 149. Price receives 14 first-place votes after finishing the season at 20-5, 2.56 with 205 Ks, while Verlander gets 13, after a season during which he went 17-8, 2.64 with 239 strikeouts.

2013: The MVPs in the two major league circuits are both clear-cut picks: Andrew McCutchen gets 28 of 30 first-place votes in the NL and Miguel Cabrera 23 in the AL.
Cabrera led the 2013 AL in average, slugging, OBP and OPS, was second in homers and RBI to win his second straight AL MVP.

2013: Major League Baseball owners agree to fund an expanded video review system in 2014. The plan, which would allow managers to challenge almost any call by umpires except for balls and strikes, still needs to gain approval from the Players Association and Umpires Union.

2014: The Detroit Tigers signed Victor Martinez as a free agent.

2017: The Detroit Tigers signed Niko Goodrum as a free agent.

November 15 in Tigers and mlb history:

1945: The rules are revised for election of modern players to the Hall of Fame. A runoff election is formulated as a way to qualify more players for selection, but it fails to meet its objective as no one reaches the 75 percent requirement in the runoff. Former players Frank Chance, Johnny Evers and Ed Walsh and former manager Miller Huggins come closest.

1948: The Detroit Tigers drafted Bob Hooper from the New York Giants in the 1948 minor league draft.
1948: The St. Louis Cardinals drafted Ed Mierkowicz from the Detroit Tigers in the 1948 minor league draft.

1950: The Detroit Tigers signed Earl Johnson as a free agent.

1957: Milwaukee Braves star Hank Aaron is named National League MVP (44 HR - 132 RBI - .322 BA).

1961: For the second consecutive year, New York Yankees outfielder Roger Maris is named American League Most Valuable Player. The new single-season home run record holder with 61 edges his teammate Mickey Mantle by four points, 202-198. Jim Gentile of the Baltimore Orioles finishes third with 157 points.

1962: Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Don Drysdale wins the 1962 Cy Young Award, outpolling Jack Sanford of the San Francisco Giants with 14 of 18 votes.

1967: Future Hall of Famer Carl Yastrzemski of the Boston Red Sox is the overwhelming selection as American League MVP. He receives all but one first place vote in the balloting, the other vote going to Minnesota's Cesar Tovar. Yastrzemski, who led the AL in batting average (.327), home runs (44) and RBI (121), will be the last major leaguer to win the Triple Crown in the 20th Century.

1983: Shortstop Cal Ripken, Jr. of the Baltimore Orioles is named the Most Valuable Player in the American League. Ripken, who led the league in hits and runs scored, becomes the first major league player to win the MVP and Rookie of the Year awards in back-to-back seasons.

1987: Bill Laskey of the Detroit Tigers granted free agency.

1988: Los Angeles Dodgers outfielder Kirk Gibson wins the National League MVP Award, edging out New York Mets OFs Darryl Strawberry.

1992: Jeff Kaiser of the Detroit Tigers granted free agency.

1999: The Detroit Tigers signed Luis Polonia as a free agent.

2001: New York Yankees pitcher Roger Clemens, who posted a 20-3 record with 213 strikeouts and a 3.51 ERA, wins the American League Cy Young Award for an unprecedented sixth time. Previously, Clemens captured the award with the Red Sox in 1986, 1987 and 1991, and the Blue Jays in 1997 and 1998. He becomes the first Yankees pitcher to win the award since 1978 when Ron Guidry copped the honor. In the 2004 season, Clemens will win his seventh Cy Young in the National League with the Houston Astros.

2003: The Detroit Tigers signed Guillermo Rodriguez as a free agent.

2004: San Francisco Giants outfielder Barry Bonds, who is the only player to be the National League Most Valuable Player more than three times, is named by the Baseball Writers Association of America for a record seventh time, including an unprecedented fourth consecutive season. Bonds finished 2004 with a .362 batting average, 45 home runs and 101 RBI. Winning the honor at the age of 40, Bonds surpasses Willie Stargell (39) as the oldest player to win the award.

2005: After months of deadlock, leaders of Major League Baseball and the players union reach an agreement to clean up a performance-enhancing drug scandal that has tarnished the nation's pastime and left lawmakers worried about young athletes imitating the wrong role models. It will require baseball players to submit to several drug tests each year, during and between seasons, and will impose lengthy suspensions for steroid and amphetamine use.
Repeat offenders can be banned for life. The agreement, which must be ratified by both the players and baseball owners, is similar to a proposal offered earlier this year by commissioner Bud Selig.

2005: The Detroit Tigers signed Mike Hessman as a free agent.

2007: Barry Bonds is arraigned on five counts of perjury and obstruction of justice for his involvement in the federal investigation of BALCO.

2011: Detroit's Justin Verlander is the unanimous winner of the 2011 American League Cy Young Award. Verlander won the Pitching Triple Crown by leading the AL in wins with a 24-5 record, in ERA at 2.40 and in strikeouts with 250. He also threw his second career no-hitter on May 7th.

2012: In what is portrayed as a classic dispute between defenders of traditional statistics and supporters of sabermetrics, 3B Miguel Cabrera of the Tigers wins the 2012 American League Most Valuable Player Award over Rookie of the Year OF Mike Trout of the Angels by a score of 362 to 281. Cabrera was the first winner of a Triple Crown in 45 years, but Trout finished ahead of him in more advanced measures of a player's value.
Miguel receives 22 of the 28 first-place votes. The Tiger third baseman winning the triple crown in 2012, is the first time that had happened in 45 years. Miggy is the first Detroit position player since Hank Greenberg in 1940 to win the award.

2012: The Detroit Tigers signed Brad Davis as a free agent.

2014: The Detroit Tigers signed Tim Melville as a free agent.

2016: The Detroit Tigers signed Dustin Molleken as a free agent.
