Matt Staffords tunnel Vison

Considering he was like 40% comp when throwing to cj last week.....not sure why he'd be your main target in the first place. Matt's too dumb to figure that out...

Yes MH but hopefully he will because he does have a ton of talent..

Up tempo Joe.... Up the damn tempo on offense sometimes..

The offense was bad the last half of last year also.. Especially the last 4 games when we scored 20,16,20, and 13. Verses some teams we should have handled... Matt and pressure. Can he handle it... Really hope so.. Simplify the offense LOL.. What is he a dope?

I really don't think tempo is the issue. Last minute drives are when Matt succeeds because Matt realizes that he needs to get the ball to the open man, not just try to feed his favorite target. He actually works through his progressions and normally makes a good read. That's also why the offense kicks into high gear when we're down big. It's not because the D is relaxing, it's because Matt is forced to not force the ball...if that makes sense. He gets to throw it to the Ross's and Fullers of the world and even use his TEs. In turn, that opens up Tate and CJ. And then they make plays.

People on here complain about the play calling and how we're not going down field. That's not on Lombardi. That's a Stafford thing. The ball is snapped, he drops back, looks at CJ - not open - and immediately checks down to a 2 yard pass to whoever the fuck is closest to him. Occasionally, he'll just force it to Calvin. That's why you see CJ getting hurt so much and having 10-15 targets a game and only 5 or 6 catches. Matt hangs him out to dry and forces him to make a play on the ball instead of giving him an easy catch. If you don't believe me, watch any replays of Lions games this year. That "drop" is a perfect example. He only had to throw it in front of Calvin and it might have been a touchdown. Instead, he threw a ball that CJ had to stop for and kill any chances of getting YAC. Sure, he should have caught the ball. Definitely should have. But that doesn't change the fact that it was a shitty throw.

Plenty of down field routes for Matt to choose from, but he panics and takes the easy 2 or 3 yards instead of taking another second to see if the 10 or 15 yard route can get open.

field vision is poor....which comes from a lack of understanding how to read the defenses and where to attack a certain defense. Which is also due to a new offense and probably pretty poor coaching on the offensive side of the ball....I mean really....its not even lombardis offense. Its Lombardi trying to run someone elses offense. cause he doesn't have an offense. cause hes never had this job before....ever. So instead were left with Stafford trying to force the ball in places instead of just taking what the defense gives.....unless ofcourse the defense gives you a 2 yd check down....Stafford loves those....and he'll take them ALL DAY LONG.

He did this same shit last year. Different coaches, same result. Blame sticks with Matt. He's too predictable most of the game.

If Stafford would read some damn forums he'd know what his problems are.

Isn't it pretty damming that the playbook needs to be "simplified" (which is a fancy word for dumbed down) for a 6th year QB with all of these offensive weapons? We all hoped (and that seemed to be what was being preached to us) that we would see 5 wide, TEs that can run seam routes and RBs breaking long runs from screens. What we got is an offense that can't get out of its own way.

I don't think they've put ebron on a seem route yet this year lmao. Talk about dumbed down..all the guy does is run 3 yard outs. This is what they had in mind....this was their plan when drafting a guy in the top 10? what a joke the Lombardi/ebron combo has been. its so hard to tell whos fault it is though....I blame ebron less and less. Lombardi and Stafford are much of the problem. "need moar weapons".....why? the guy only throws to 1 person or dumps it to a back. you need CJ and a RB.....the rest you should be drafting enough olineman to protect you until cj can get open. After 6 years I can fairly say...that's just who Stafford is. tate has had 1 good game with CJ on the field 100%....that's it.

Stafford goes through his progessions. Most of 2012/2013 the others didnt' get open. Against Arizona, Tate/Ebron rarely got open. This will change against the Pats (Tate/Ebron getting open).

And what evidence do you have to suggest that Ebron will suddenly "get open?"

we had guys wide open in the ari game....Stafford cant find them.

There is a reason Stafford is ranked in the bottom 1/2 of the league...he is playing like a below average QB this season. Heck, PFF has him ranked 31st!

PFF can only be used to support LKP in showing Stafford is an Elite qb. You should know that by now
