Lions to release Deandre Levy

I'm not sure how it works, With this Levy's release in football, could the Lions actually re-sign him to a less costly deal? or is this the end for him?

The end, claimed he thought he had CTE. Nobody should sign this guy.

They can sign him if they release him, but "can" is a loose term here.

He's been unproductive for two years. He claimed to have CTE, as kdp pointed out. His off-season lifestyle put him in danger of lots of injury issues.

He's not getting a big deal by any smart club, and honestly, I think there's a good chance he's done.

What a damn shame. This dude completely fucked that organization. What a piece of shit...

Did the Lions make the right move with DeAndre Levy?
Now that the dust has settled, what do you think of the Lions? decision to release DeAndre Levy?

DeAndre Levy's official release comes with a post-June 1 designation.
Per ESPN data, he will count $2.4 million against the cap in 2017 and $4.8 million against in 2018.
This frees up almost $6 million in cap room for the Lions this year.

Just more proof we will be adding linebackers during the draft

DeAndre Levy was cut by Detroit because of his age and production, not politics.

Bob Quinn: The Lions moved on from DeAndre Levy to get younger.
It turns out age was the biggest factor in the Lions? decision to let DeAndre Levy go.
PrideOfDetroit

I say getting younger is BS. We still have Ngata who is 33, Quin is 31, Carey is 30. We want Boldin back and he is 36.

I agree with moving on from Levy but don't lie and say it is his age. It was his productivity since he signed that fat contract.

Impossible to say what's up with Levy. Let us not forget the guy also claimed to have CTE.

If he does not have CTE, then he has a history of lying openly about his health problems.

If he does have CTE, there is no telling what shape his brain is in, or if he even knows what he's saying.

He's on crutches, but if any of us goes to a doctor and says "I'm hurting" especially after having the issue he has had in recent years, they will be on crutches and in a knee brace immediately. They do that first, and MRI second.

Levy had another surgery on his right knee per Dave Birkett at Free Press
