Well certainly won't be the first time Verlander and Sale have faced each other. Let's take this series!!

If I was JV I would hit Pedroia every plate appearance.

Starting to thunderstorm here in Canton. Usually means it will hit Detroit about 20-30 minutes later.

Does anyone know the reasoning as to why this was a Fri-Mon series? I can't think of many series ending on a Monday.

Upton scratched from line up with upper back issues. Also, game has been delayed.

Pitchers duel we expected is underway. Both Verlander and Sale have quick easy 1-2-3 first innings.

Potential big inning brewing for the Red Sox. Moreland leads off with a double, Sandoval walks, and now Nick muffs a double play ball at third. Bases loaded nobody out.

Sox batters showing good discipline this inning. Not swinging at anything out of the zone.

JV minimizes the damage. A run scores on a double play ball, then a lineout to third ends the top of the 2nd.

1-0 Sox

Good news is it's only a 1-0 game. Bad news is Sale looks totally dominant out there. 1 hit allowed in three innings. Just threw a 97mph heater followed by a 78 mph slider to strikeout Kinsler. Filthy stuff.

1-0 Sox after three innings.
