OTT: Votto got paid..

Cincinnati's a nice city. I wouldn't mind playing there for an entire career. Joey's like a hero in that town. When I was there last summer, so many of his jerseys were being worn.

Votto should see a World Series at some point. The Reds are due. It's going on 22 years for them. They haven't been absent from the World Series this long since 1940.

Too much money and terms for even a player as good as Votto, IMO.

Last 3 years Away

Votto (28) 147.41 RC/650 .339 BAVG .436 OBP .597 SLG 1.033 OPS 21.50 PA/HR

A. Gonzalez (29) 132.40 RC/650 .317 BAVG .403 OBP .599 SLG 1.002 OPS 16.42 PA/HR

M. Cabrera (28) 126.01 RC/650 .318 BAVG .410 OBP .568 SLG .978 OPS 20.00 PA/HR

A. Pujols (32) 124.37 RC/650 .300 BAVG .390 OBP .594 SLG .984 OPS 14.87 PA/HR

P. Fielder (27) 111.24 RC/650 .279 BAVG .404 OBP .503 SLG .907 OPS 21.27 PA/HR

R. Howard (32) 101.44 RC/650 .263 BAVG .343 OBP .518 SLG .861 OPS 17.22 PA/HR

M. Tiexiera (31) 91.73 RC/650 .250 BAVG .344 OBP .463 SLG .807 OPS 23.22 PA/HR

Votto = 10/$225 ($22.5 avg)
Gonzalez = 7/$154 ($22.0 avg)
Cabrera = 8/$152.3 ($19.0 avg)
Pujols = 10/$240 ($24.0 avg)
Fielder = 9/$214 ($23.8 avg)
Howard = 5/$125 ($25.0 avg)
Tiexiera = 8/$180 ($22.5 avg)

There is your 7 1B making the most money. Statistically speaking, Votto is the best of the bunch.

Though Miguel making the 7th most most seems like a bargain.

Noticed I used Away stats.

Notice I never mentioned Cubs / Brewers / Pirates hitter-friendly ballparks - all in the same division as Cinci?

Add the total number of games per year?

Ya' gotta' consider everything when using a ladder system on these 1Bs.

Great player, probably the best in the NL.

Votto ranks top three in global three-year stats in many primary and secondary categories, but 10 years/@225 added to the two years left on his contract makes his the longest guaranteed in MLB.

Will he be top-three in even three years from now?
