All 80s team

Terrible choice for SS.

Yount only played at SS [during the 80's] from 1980 to 1984, then he made the switch to the OF. Ripken Jr. played more at SS in the 80's.

Also all positions had one player selected except 3rd base had two.

Not a great article.

Not a great article.

The article states: The following are the best seasons by position during the 1980s.

The title could state it better. Additionally, Trammell's 1987 season was just a miraculous as Yount's 1982 season for a SS and is arguably the 4th best season of the 80s. Like you said, if he is going to list two thirdbasemen and two centerfielders, why not two SS?

Best Offensive Season's in the 1980s:

1982 Yount (SS) 9.8
1985 Henderson (CF) 8.6
1980 Brett (3B) 8.5
1987 Trammell (SS) 8.3
1985 Boggs (3B) 8.3
1985 Brett (3B) 8.1
1988 Boggs (3B) 8.0
1989 H. Johnson (3B) 7.9
1989 K. Mitchell (LF) 7.9
1987 Gwynn (RF) 7.7
1989 J. Clark (1B) 7.6
1980 Schmidt (3B) 7.5
1984 Ripken (SS) 7.5
1987 Boggs (3B) 7.5
1988 Canseco (RF) 7.5
1985 McGee (CF) 7.4
1985 Guerrero (LF) 7.3
1985 Murphy (CF) 7.2
1987 Strawberry (RF) 7.2
1983 Boggs (3B) 7.1
1986 Mattingly (1B) 7.1
1982 Harrah (3B) 7.0
1983 Ripken (SS) 7.0
1984 Sandberg (2B) 7.0
1987 E. Davis (CF) 7.0
1988 Puckett (CF) 7.0

On Examiner's list
1983 Murphy (CF) 6.9
1981 Schmidt (3B) 6.6
1984 Carter (C) 6.4
1980 Jackson (RF) 6.1
1982 McRae (DH) 4.3
1983 Rice (LF) 4.3

You cannot have Schmidt on the list ahead of Boggs. Same with Jackson and Rice, there are far better seasons than theirs.

Looks like Carter wins by default. And his '82 was better than his '84.

To put things into perspective:

2010 Miguel Cabrera 7.0
2011 Miguel Cabrera 7.9
2012 Miguel Cabrera 7.8
2013 Miguel Cabrera 8.9

So it's an all-decade team based on a players single season.

Okay it's even dumber than I thought.
