most leagues have Foster and Peterson going 1 and 2 , was at a stag last night and dude was asking alot of opinions on who should he take at his pick #3 if the draft fell like it most likely would.

I hated the number 3 pick when I had it, but regardless I usually stock up on as many running backs as I can in the earlier rounds. So I think either Charles or Rice would suffice, but I voted for Rice.

Charles has been producing more and more each season. I think he will be a top two RB, along with Peterson. Foster will come back to the pack. Chris Johnson may not play the first few games. Ray Rice is the only other option IMO.

Charles ran me to back2back $$ league champs. I'll use the #1 overall pick on him. Loyalty.

Rice is gonna be a monster this year. In a PPR league I say Rice in a standard league I say Charles. Jamal got off to a slow start last year, but sure did make up for it at the end

It really comes down to 3 choices and each have their drawbacks.

1. Mike Vick - he can single handedly win you weeks if he plays close to the level he did at last year, potentially you are drafting a running back who throws 30 tds. I personally can't see him matching last years success, but if he does he is worthy at #3 or even #1. Injuries are always a question with Vick who I believe is yet to play all 16 games. However at the QB position you have to take into account what the drop off is in points between Vick and someone like a Romo who you can get in the 5th-6th rounds.

2.Jamaal Charles - potentially the best running back in the game right now, certainly the most explosive and exciting (along with the next guy on the list). Great stats last year but... The major drawbacks to Charles are Haley's time share system which limits Charles carries inside the redzone which again will be divided up between Thomas Jones and the addition of new redzone specialist McClain. Charles' TD seem to be long runs and the teams the Chiefs play this year by their strength of schedule are teams that limit the long runs especially in the Fantasy post season...look at this stretch -- Week 11 through 15 Pats, Steelers, Bears, Jets, Packers. Charles may be good enough to overcome those defenses but he will have to because I don't see the Chiefs as a team scoring too many points against that bunch.

3. If this guy was under contract he is a no brainer...Chris Johnson. Great running back, easy schedule including two gifts against the Colts, and the oline has looked Houston Texans good in the preseason, with Jamie Harper and Javon Ringer turning in big performances. Hasselbeck is no threat but he can keep defenses honest.

Honorable mention: you can make a good case for Ray Rice. I could see him returning to form of a couple years ago and running behind the best full back in the game will only help matters. In fact if I think about it more this guy could be the safest pick here as his major drawbacks are facing the Steelers twice a year and the Ravens efforts to incorporate more focus onto the passing game.
