Wasn't Verlander once engaged to his childhood or HS sweetheart?

Never learned about when and why they broke up.

Wasn't she of asian/oriental descent or something?

Emily Yeung. I posted something about that in the past couple of weeks.
iirc, a mutual friend hooked up with her and they got married?

Well...JV is very talented, wealthy, young, a RoY, Cy, MVP, and now a WS-winning, likely HoF-bound SP sports celeb who is about to marry a hot supermodel. Living a life that very, very, very few of us men have or ever will. The only goal left unfulfilled is to win a game in the WS. Of course pitching another no hitter or two, or better still, his first perfect game, as well as again winning 20+ games and maybe challenging for the strikeout record in a game, are not outside the realm of possibilities, esp after having tweaked his mechanics. He certainly has gone to the right place to achieve them.

I don't know.. I was an All Star second alternate in my summer league between 7th and 8th grade. And we finished 4th that year. I led the league in HBP. JV has nothing on me.

I don't know when and why Verlander and his high school girlfriend broke up.

Know what other high school couples I don't know about when and why they broke up?

Every high school couple in the history of high school couples.

It is little known, but Kate Upton actually rebuffed Verl on more than one occasion early in his courtship of her.

She found him to be not perfect.

That was a pretty interesting article, thanks for locating the link, KC. Justin's former squeeze and her former Tigers" staff husband appear to be doing quite well.
