Zimmermann faces Tribe in nightcap.

Three things to know about this game:
If there's a player who isn't looking forward to the turn of the calendar from June to July, it's probably Zimmermann.
His career 4.08 ERA in July is markedly worse than his 2.71 mark in June. Last season, he missed the whole month of July with a neck injury that plagued the rest of his season once he returned in August.

Cleveland's bullpen has an MLB-best 2.57 ERA. Detroit's 'pen, on the other hand, ranks last with a 5.15 ERA.
Carrasco is tied for eighth in the Majors in barrels per batted ball event (9.4 percent) among pitchers with at least 190 batted ball events, according to Statcast. Zimmermann is not far behind, at 8.8 percent (tied for 12th).

Game notes: Justin Upton, who didn't play in today's first game due to "right side soreness," is also sitting out Game 2.
Zimmermann was battered Sunday in San Diego, allowing five runs in four innings.
Carrasco had his worst start of the year Monday, giving up eight runs in 3 1/3 innings to Texas.
The Indians lead the Tigers by six games in the AL Central division.
The Tigers are 5-2 against Cleveland this season after winning today's first game, 7-4.

Hamtramck Stadium.

Historic Hamtramck Stadium is one of only five Negro League home ballparks still in existence. The grandstand and field are in Veterans Memorial Park on the south side of Hamtramck. The Stadium was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012. In 2014, a State of Michigan Historic Marker was dedicated at the site. On January 12, 2017, Hamtramck Stadium was the recipient of a National Park Service African American Civil Rights Grant for pre-development planning.

So June's over, but winner 4 of 5, so are we buyers now?

Who knows things changes. At one time this game was Farmer's, Then Boyd's now Zimmerman got it. Yesterdays postponement change a many of things. Tigers have some good pitching match ups in the next few games. Zimmerman game next a real big one as he gets the same again as well as Verlander does against Cleveland. Tigers have a great chance in the next eight games!

Get within sniffing distance of first place, then we'll talk. Every team has nice little hot streaks to them. I need to see more to believe they are anything but a .500 or mediocre team.

Excuse me single by Meathook, following a double by Castellanos. Tigs up 1-0

How many Tigers batters are going to get drilled by the f'n indians before Tigers pitchers drill an indian batter?

Kudos to Zimmermann...big pair of balls!!
