Detroit Tigers vs. Cleveland Indians, at Comerica Park, July 2, 2017 Matchups, Tickets, Preview.
Baseball Reference

Notable:
Nicholas Castellanos had three hits in the first game on Saturday and added a double in the second. He's now hitting .400 (14-for-35) over his last 10 games and leads the league with five triples.

In 20 games since June 1, Tigers outfielder Mikie Mahtook is hitting .356 (12-for-59) with six runs scored, three doubles, a triple and two home runs.

Justin Verlander has faced the Indians twice this year. The first outing, on April 15 in Cleveland, was one of the worst starts of his career (nine runs on 11 hits in four innings), but he pitched better on May 2 at Comerica (two runs on four hits in seven innings).

Carlos Santana has hit more home runs against Verlander (eight) than any other player. Jim Thome is next with seven.

Three things to watch for in this game:
Clevinger's three secondary pitches have given the opposition fits. His slider, changeup and curveball have combined to allow a .146 batting average (14-for-96) and a 26.3 percent whiff rate, according to Statcast.

No team has seen Verlander more than the Indians (50 career starts), but they've had his number lately. Since 2014, Verlander is 3-8 with a 5.26 ERA in 15 starts against Cleveland.

No one on the Tigers has had more than three plate appearances against Clevinger, but Miguel Cabrera did plenty of damage in their brief encounter. Cabrera is 2-for-2 with a double, a home run and five RBIs against the right-hander.

Tigers 199,750,600 million, CLEVELAND 124,116,166 million, = 75,634,434 mill is leading the Tigers

Some thing very wrong with this team! Verlander 4.96;Zimmermann 5.58; Norris 5.00; Boyd 5.69;Farmer 6.62; Sanchez 6.34.

Pelfrey 4.13,

Justin Verlander allowed 8 ER in 3.1 IP today against the Indians, with 3 BB and 0 K. His ERA in 3 starts vs the Indians this season is 11.30.
His ERA vs all other teams is 3.87.
It also snapped a 331-start streak with a strikeout for Verlander, the 10th-longest such streak in the Live Ball Era (since 1920). Shit...

This team brings back memories....out of the race before the all star break. Just like the Randy Smith era.
