Detroit Tigers vs. Toronto Blue Jays, at Comerica Park, July 15, 2017 Matchups, Tickets, Preview.
Baseball Reference

Tigers starter Michael Fulmer was invited to his first All-Star Game appearance last week. Because he pitched last Sunday in Cleveland, he was not eligible to pitch in the game and was replaced on the official roster.
Fulmer is making just his second career appearance against the Blue Jays. He allowed only two hits in six scoreless innings in the Tigers' 11-0 win at Comerica Park on June 6 of last year.

Toronto starter Francisco Liriano, now 33 and in his 12th season in baseball, achieved his 100th career win earlier this year. He's 4-6 with a 5.25 ERA in 14 career appearances at Comerica Park, most of which came when pitched for the Minnesota Twins.

Miguel Cabrera (9-for-36 with three home runs, two doubles and 10 walks) and Victor Martinez (13-for-31 with a home run and six doubles) have hit well against Liriano. Justin Upton is 1-for-13 with five strikeouts, although his only hit is a home run.

The Tigers opened the second half of their season with a 7-2 loss to the Blue Jays on Friday night.
Over the last six seasons (2011-2016), the Tigers have the fifth-best winning percentage among MLB teams after the All-Star break (238-192, .553).
Only the Dodgers (.586), Cardinals (.572), Nationals (.561) and Rangers (.560) are better.
The only season in which the Tigers did not post a winning record after the break was 2015.

Three things to know for the game:
Darwin Barney and Kendrys Morales are a combined 6-for-12 (.500) off Fulmer. The rest of Toronto's lineup is 1-for-12 (.083). No Blue Jays player has recorded an extra-base hit or an RBI against Fulmer.

Liriano is throwing his two-seam fastball less this year, but opponents are still hitting for power against it. Liriano threw his two-seamer almost 50 percent of the time in 2016 and garnered a .517 slugging percentage against, according to Statcast, versus about 32 percent this year and a .621 slugging percentage.

Toronto is one of the few teams to hold Miguel Cabrera in check, especially in recent years.
Since 2011, Cabrera is 27-for-130 (.208) with eight extra-base hits in 35 games against the Blue Jays.

Liriano walks the bases loaded in the 3rd, is removed for another pitcher,
JD singles home 2 more runs,

Tigers lead 4 - 0,
Victor flies out to center, Miggy tags up and gets to third,

1 out,

Mahtook fly to left, Miggy tags up and scores sac fly Vrooooooom,

Tigers lead 5 - 0,

2 outs,

McCann takes 3 up and in, strike call, walks,

first and second,

Iglesias takes a low strike, fouled back, can't check his swing,

Fulmer time,

Lol at gonads playing 2b for Toronto.

Miggy with a 2 run Bomb.

Moar Bombs and Doubles Please.

Tigers lead 8 - 1,

Whatever that was in last nights broadcast through the mlb extra innings that fairly muted the sound, it appears to be a one time thing thankfully.

Fulmer is pitching like JV did last year and nearly every year before this 2017.

One over the minimum through 7. One hit, one walk. 12 ground ball outs.
Run came in 4th, walk, SB, two ground outs. Dominant.

Whatever happened to Devon Travis? I thought he was Toronto's 2nd baseman. That guy hurt AGAIN?

Tigermud;

Miggy's Home run was # 458 still in 37th place, 5 more to tie and 6 more to pass, Canseco and Dunn each with 462.

Miggy's 2 RBI passes Mike Schmidt in 38th place and ties George Brett for 37th place with 1,596 RBI. Next is Nap Lajoie in 36th with 1,599.

Miggy's 6 total bases give him 4,540 still in 47th place, next is Frank Thomas with 4550.

Miggy's 3 hits give him 2,594 still in 84th place. Ed Delahunty is 83rd with 2597.

Miggy's 3 runs scored gives him 1,355 and passes Pudge Rodriguez at 1354.
Miggy ties Tommy Leach and Larry Walker with 1,355.
Next are King Kelly and Doc Cramer tied with 1357.

Just looked him up.

Player Injury (Knee): Devon Travis is on the 60-day disabled list while recovering from a procedure to repair damaged cartilage in his right knee and is expected to be out of action until sometime in September.
(Updated June 26, 2017).

Transactions
June 5, 2012: Drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 13th round of the 2012 amateur draft. Player signed July 3, 2012.
November 13, 2014: Traded by the Detroit Tigers to the Toronto Blue Jays for Anthony Gose.

Tigers needed a big win after last nights 9 inning dump.

Thought I heard Mario say it's the 8th time the Tigers have scored 10 or more runs in a game.

JD with 5 RBI, Fulmer was great,

The Tigers easily dispatched the Toronto Blue Jays 11-1 Saturday night at Comerica Park shortly after a team meeting in the clubhouse.

NOTABLE
It was the second-largest crowd of the season at Comerica Park, with 40,036 in attendance.
The largest crowd (45,013) this season was the home opener, a 6-5 win over the Red Sox on April 7.

The Tigers scored five runs off left-handed pitcher Francisco Liriano, who didn?t make it out of the third inning on Saturday. It was later announced that he left with neck tightness.
Liriano went wild in the third inning. He walked the first three batters ? Castellanos, Justin Upton and Miguel Cabrera ? then fell behind 2-0 to Martinez before leaving the game.

Fulmer is really, really good, and the Tigers are lucky to have him. At the end of the day his line was 8 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 1 BB, 3 K, 101 pitches.
Fulmer, because he was sensational ? posting his 16th quality start, out of 18, and recording his 10th win.
He only struck out three, but he was pitching to contact, mostly weak contact. He induced 14 ground ball outs.
Fulmer has never lost a start in July in his brief career (5-0 in eight starts).

Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera hit a two-run home run in the sixth inning, giving him 1,596 career RBIs. That surpasses one Hall-of-Famer -- Mike Schmidt -- and ties another --George Brett -- for 37th all-time. Next up on the list is No. 36, Nap Lajoie, with 1,599.

Cabrera got an unusual base hit but no RBI when he blasted a liner that hit off baserunner Justin Upton's leg in the fourth inning.
Upton, who was called out to end the inning, likely would have scored on the play if he had been able to get out of the way. The official scorer gave Cabrera a base hit.

After getting a solo home run from Nicholas Castellanos in the first, the Tigers went up 2-0 when three consecutive batters reached base with two outs. Mikie Mahtook reached on an infield single, James McCann walked and Jose Iglesias got a bloop RBI single.

Cabrera followed with a laser shot into the visitor's bullpen in left-center field, a two-run shot. It was his 12th home run of the season and first since July 1.

J.D. Martinez also hadn?t homered since July, going empty in 47 plate appearances until the eighth inning. With two on, he lined a pitch from Aaron Loup into the seats in right. It was a three-hit, 5-RBI game for Martinez.

Cabrera and Iglesias each had three hits. Upton had a double, single and a walk with an RBI.

Tigers second baseman Ian Kinsler returned after missing one day with the flu. He went 0-for-3 with two walks.

ROARS:
Whatever happened in that pre-game meeting must have lit a fire under the Tigers, because they didn?t waste any opportunities the Jays set up for them.

Jose Iglesias with an RBI and a stolen base shows his hustle won?t stop.
Iggy got his ninth game of the season with three hits.

Miguel Cabrera ? and man alive it feels good to write his name in here ? with both a great slow hustle home on an RBI and then in the sixth and awesome and much needed two-run blast. Welcome back, buddy.

J.D. Martinez because duh.

HISSES:
Good heavens the outfield is just awful to look at right now.

STREAKS & INFO:
J.D. Martinez is now up to seven games on his hitting streak.

Miguel Cabrera now has the 37th highest number of RBIs all-time.

MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
Castellanos crushes one: Home plate was covered in shadows despite a sunny sky for the 6:10 p.m. ET start, making things tough on hitters early. Castellanos didn't seem to mind, sending a Liriano fastball out to right field for his 11th home run of the season, and his fifth to the opposite field.

Martinez mashes: Though Liriano left with the bases loaded, a 2-0 count and nobody out, the Tigers capitalized when Martinez swung at the first pitch from his replacement, lining Mike Bolsinger's offering to left for a two-run single. Martinez put the game away in the eighth with his 15th home run of the season.

NEXT UP
The Tigers and Blue Jays finish their three-game series on Sunday at 1:10 p.m. Anibal Sanchez (1-0, 5.89 ERA) will face Toronto's Marco Estrada (4-6, 5.17).

Picked a good game to go to! Beautiful night for a game too. I actually really liked the 6:10 start.

Only problem was it honestly felt like a road game! Our section was littered with Blue Jays fans, and many of them were absolutely hammered. Luckily nothing too serious came of it, but was a bit concerning for a while. I went with my brother and parents.

First home Fulmer start I've missed. He's become a must see event in my opinion.

Hope one of you guys will post Game 90 Sunday July 16, 1 pm start time game.

ceases to amaze me, how good they can play in a game and how awful they are in the next. They have too many games with no patients. 102 runs in 7 games and worst yet they lost one. 25 % of Tigers runs are scored in .07 % of there games!
