Tigers trio of Lou Whitaker, Alan Trammell, Jack Morris could get HOF vote in Dec.

good. It would have been nice if the article included a list of potential candidates, to see how the trio stack up.

The Hall of Fame will be releasing the its latest Modern Baseball Era Committee ballot tomorrow, and Alan Trammell and Lou Whitaker are likely to be on it. With that in mind, let?s look at a few numbers:

Legendary double-play duo Johnny Evers (49.0) and Joe Tinker (55.5) were a combined 94.5 WAR.
Trammell (63.7) and Whitaker (68.1) were a combined 131.8 WAR.

Trammell and Whitaker deserve to join Tinker and Evers in the Hall of Fame. Not only that, they should go in together.

Tigers legends Alan Trammell and Jack Morris to get another shot at Hall of Fame.

Trammell is joined on the ballot by former players Steve Garvey, Tommy John, Don Mattingly, Jack Morris, Dale Murphy, Dave Parker, Ted Simmons and Luis Tiant, as well as former players union executive Marvin Miller.

Trammell spent his entire 20-year career with the Tigers and later served as team manager. Morris pitched for the Tigers for parts of 14 seasons.

Lou Whitaker, who played alongside Trammell in the Tigers infield, is not listed on this year's ballot.

The Modern Era committee considers players who failed to make it to Cooperstown on the traditional ballot voted on by members of the Baseball Writers Association of America.

Of the Top 10 second-basemen by bWAR, seven are in the HOF, Cano is still playing, and the other two are Bobby Grich and Lou Whitaker.

Of the Top 10 shortstops of all-time by bWAR, eight are in the HOF, Derek Jeter is going there, and the other one is Alan Trammell.

DET has 5 players in the Top 10 bWAR/position, 1921-present:

C: Cochrane
2B: Gehringer, Whitaker*
SS: Trammell*
RF: Kaline

*Not in the HOF

So let me get this straight, Lou got snubbed because he was quiet and forgot his all star jersey once? What a sham.

I like that Tram is with the organization. I hope he's here a long time.
