kinda impressive Donlon is/was a HC. its a horizon league team, but still.

and the other guy is from OU, and presumably has solid ties to SE Michigan recruiting.

seems like two okay hires. yay.

Yep, the Wright St guy seems like a great hire.

We'll have to see on the Oakland guy. They've been pretty decent for Oakland, lately though.

Donlon - 39 year old former head coach at Wright St (horizon league coach of the year) who's a defensive specialist.

Washington - 41 year old associate head coach at Oakland, worked with the bigs, recruiting coordinator. From Lansing, Played at Western, coached at Romulus. From his bio..

"Washington is responsible for bringing in some of the top mid-major recruits in the country to Oakland University. Five players have led the country in a statistical category, beginning with Johnathon Jones in 2009 when he dished out 8.1 assists per game to lead the NCAA. Reggie Hamilton followed in 2012 by scoring an NCAA-best 26.2 points per game, and Travis Bader made a Summit League record 139 treys in 2013 to lead the country. Teammate Duke Mondy led the NCAA with 3.03 steals per game, breaking the school record with 100 in 2012-13. Bader and Mondy were the first tandem to lead the NCAA in a category inside The Summit League. Most recently, Kay Felder led the nation in assists at 9.3 per game while also ranking fourth in scoring at 24.4 points per game."

So, youth - check, defense - check, recruiting - check. Yay.

youth? i think you mean age; neither of them are really young, old man.

Compared to Beilein and Meyer they are! And in the context of established basketball coaches I'll stand by the use of youth. Though I guess it'd be fair to throw in "relative".

Donlon is a great hire. Wright State is a shit program. They don't even have a strength coach. He got them to win 20+ games three years in a row. His defenses were high turnover and high foul rate. Very aggressive. We'll see if JB gives him some leeway with the fouling.

There's been some rumors floating that Meyer may be gone too. There's only one logical replacement. You guessed it. Frank Stallone.

Or Juwan Howard.
