Detroit Tigers vs. Tampa Bay Rays, at Comerica Park, June 16, 2017 Matchups, Tickets, Preview.
Baseball Reference

Notable:
The Tigers are just 1-16 when they don't hit a home run. They didn't have one Thursday night until Miguel Cabrera's game-winning shot in the ninth inning.

The home run was the 452nd of Cabrera's career, tying him with Carl Yastrzemski for 37th on the all-time list.

Cabrera has hit in five straight games with a .409 average during that span.
Victor Martinez, who left Thursday's game in the seventh inning after feeling ill, broke an 0-for-16 skid with two hits.

Jose Iglesias has a six-game hitting streak, going 9-for-18 over that span. He's hitting .423 (22-for-52) in his last 14 games.

Tigers starter Daniel Norris gave up five runs on eight hits in a start against the Rays earlier this year in St. Petersburg (although he wasn't helped much by his defense).
In three career starts against Tampa, he's 0-1 with a 3.78 ERA.

Rays outfielder Steven Souza has doubled, tripled and homered against Norris in eight career at-bats.

Rays starter Erasmo Ramirez has a 5.05 ERA in 28 2/3 inning as a starter this year and a 3.05 ERA in 20 2/3 innings out of the bullpen.
Ramirez is one of four active Major League players from Nicaragua. The Tigers saw one of the others, Angels pitcher J.C. Ramirez (no relation) just a few days ago.

Norris gives up 2 runs while I was away smoking an Oliva Series G,

and Alex Avila hits an opposite field blast to tie the game up, that is # 10 for the Tigers' catcher who used to be called Alice.

Upton hits a rope that knuckles and backspin flys over the head of the rays cf'er Miggy scores,

Tigers lead 3 - 2,

Now Nick Lines one past Longoria down the LF line and JD and Upton score,

Tigers lead 5 - 2,

presley lines it to second and safe, JD to third,

Sac fly for McCann and JD tags up and scores,

Tigers lead 6 - 2,

Iggy foul fly to right, souza catches it and Presley tags up and slides into second safe,

Kinsler lines to center,

Iggy with two outstanding fielding plays,

one a slow grounder he gloves it and split second to his throwing hand gets the runner, next is a flare to shallow left center and he races back and snatches it out of the air, Those two will make the highlights reel tonight,

Not going to see too many innings with 3 defensive plays like that. Nice work.

I have never seen three awesome defensive plays in the same inning. Because so many defensive plays look easy.
