Detroit Lions - Team Notes

Detroit Lions Blog Podcast Episode 141 ? Lions Draft Season Kickoff. 2 hours 16 minutes.

In this episode of The Detroit Lions Podcast, Chris and Case are joined in-studio by Jeff Risdon and we have a raucous time discussing Lions coaches and the kickoff of the draft season at the Shrine Game.

As we said last week, the stories about Matt Patricia heading to New York were nothing to be too alarmed about and to R-E-L-A-X while the process worked itself out. Now, here we stand pretty sure that we are getting our number one choice for head coach. We talk about the upsides and our fears about a Matt Patricia hire, we also talk about what the Lions options are at offensive coordinator ? is Jim Bob Cooter our guy? Is there someone we should be hiring?

While on the topic of Lions coaches, we talk about the legacy of Jim Caldwell and why we all respect him and what he has done for the team. We even give some love to Jim Schwartz along the way. Jeff Risdon laments the loss of defensive line coach Kris Kocurek, and we spend some time discussing his personality and what he brought to the team every day ? hint: a lot. We also start the discussion about what we want in an offensive line coach and if there are any names we?re currently looking at.

We also start our draft season talk with the Riz?s breakdown on what he saw during the practice week in the run-up to the shrine game. Riz talks about the biggest names at the game, who is looking at them, and what they might mean to the Lions. Huge thanks to RealGM for sending him down to provide his excellent coverage of events. Make sure to check out their ongoing NFL draft coverage, it is top notch.

Of course, Case does his thing (with Riz?s assistance) and takes us around the division with our old school bass drop.
