This game for a share of the ALCD cellar-dweller.

Tigers' 3rd...Machado grounds to third, Kinsler singles, Candy walks, WP both advance, Nick C rbi doubles them in, 4-0. Hicks walks, Navarro GIDP.

Tigers' 4th...Mahtook grounds to third, Holaday singles, Jones rbi double, 5-0. Machado K swinging, Kinsler walks, sux PC dreck replaces sp covey. Candy walks, bases loaded for Nicky, who flies out to center.

Boy-R-D pitch well after 5, but then these are the sux, even an average MLB SP should be able to dominate them once in awhile.

Tigers' 5th...Hicks grounds to short, Navarro singles, Mahtook 2 run homers to left-centerfield, 7-0. Holaday grounds to short, Jones 11 pitch AB, grounds to third.

Tigers won't likely be joining the sux in the ALCD cellar today...or as yet anyway.

sux go down 1-2-3 vs Boyd (80 pitches) in the top 6th...hmmm...not gonna...nahh...nope..nada.

Oh and I guess Boyd wasn't too bad today, 1 out away before the RF couldn't run it down not sure but maybe a bad route on that, a speedy might have been able to get to it

sux 9th...Mingle pops to third...smith grounds to to second...one out to go...fuckkkkkk!!

Shit, another no-hitter broken up in the 9th.

Boyd pitched a great game, they had to let him try for it with the pitch count up near 120.

Boyd's Game Score is 95.

Boyd nearly joined George Mullin (1912), Virgil Trucks (twice in 1952), Jim Bunning (1958), Jack Morris (1984), and Justin Verlander (2007, 2011) as the only Tigers pitchers to have ever tossed a no-no. Verlander threw Detroit’s last no-hitter on May 7, 2011, against the Blue Jays in Toronto. He also has the last no-hitter at Comerica Park against the Milwaukee Brewers.

Too bad for Boyd...just can't get any closer to a no hitter.

There was another Tigers SP who lost a no-hitter in the 9th with two outs in the 70s, IIRC. Just can't remember who it was.

I remember Milt Wilcox losing one in the ninth to the suxs also Jerry Hairston broke it up. 1983 I think

I was very young then
