Pulkkinen gets his first as a Coyote.
Lost to Minnesota on waivers. Minnesota sent him to Arizona for future considerations.

Filppula gets his first as a Flyer.
Lost to Tampa in 2013 free agency. Past deadline his contract was dumped with a pick for Streit.

Filppula reported refused to waive modified no trade clause for Leafs.

I thought not trying to keep Filppula was a mistake . He was a decent player we should have stuck with. I guess maybe it was Babcock? Or was he gone by then I forget. Seems like Filppula has been gone for a 100 years.

Filppula: 25 million over 5 years
Weiss: 24.5 million over 5 years

Detroit tried to keep Filppula but ultimately he chose Tampa Bay. Not sure what was the ultimate reason if he wanted more money than Detroit offered, or preference for playing center instead of wing.
Holland finally managed to get his hands on Stephen Weiss. For years every deadline there were rumours of Weiss going to Wings. Holland loves anyone associated with Michigan. Weiss played junior for Plymouth Whalers in the OHL.

Weiss as we know was bought out after two injury filled seasons in Detroit. There were also unrealistic expectations, many fans expected 60+ points a season

I like Filppula, but overall, he was getting paid a bit much for his performance. I'd say he was worth it the first two years in Tampa but his numbers will continue to decline which is why Tampa moved him. They also needed to clear space to sign their younger players this offseason most notably Johnson, Palat, Drouin, and Sustr.

Jordin Tootoo just scored his first goal for Chicago.

Only took 38 games.

Was bought out after 2 of 3 year deal back in 2014. Spent two seasons in NJ and came to Chicago this offseason.

Babcock was not a fan of Tootoo and was usually in his doghouse.

The team that signed Pavel Datsyuk this past offseason had 4 of the top 5 point leaders in the KHL. He was not one of the 4.

Datsyuk had 34 points in 44 games.

To put Datsyuk's numbers in perpective here are the numbers from former Wings prospects Jan Mursak in the KHL.

2014-5: 55GP 17G 26A 43PTS
2015-6: 51GP 14G 22A 36PTS
2016-7: 33GP 6G 13A 19PTS

Jan left Detroit as a free agent in 2013 and has spent the last 4 seasons in the KHL. Recorded a total of 4 points in 46 games with Detroit over 3 seasons. He currently plays for CSKA Moscow whose GM is Sergei Fedorov (Fyodorov).

Datsyuk 5 minute major/game misconduct.

The penalty is for charging. As you can see, Datsyuk glided into the hit.

IMO.

It was a late hit, certainly not a charge.

SKA won 4-2. There was a total of 3 majors/ejections in the game, most were unwarranted.

Pulkkinen is expected to play against the Wings tonight (March 16). Only his second game since being acquired by Arizona.

Great fight . Thanks for the clips PH!!!.
Say those Russian rinks looked wider .Is that the case or am seeing things ?

The KHL uses a larger ice surface than NHL. I couldn't find a definitive size with a quick search.

I saw 3 KHL games this past fall in Bratislava. The rink seemed smaller than the standard olympic size I seen in Geneva. It may have been just the perception of where I was sitting.

On side note, Datsyuk missed the final two games of the series. I presume he is hurt because I seen nothing of a suspension nor did I expect one. SKA advanced to Western conference semi-finals and will play Locomotiv Yaroslavl.

Locomotiv was the team annihilated by the plane crash a few years ago killing former Wings Brad McCrimmon and Ruslan Salei. Staffan Kronwall is the current captain of the team. They beat CSKA (Fedorov's team) to make to it conference final.

Can confirm Datsyuk is injured, although I can't find information on what or how long. He was injured on the hit preceding his major penalty.

Datsyuk missed the first two games of the Western conference finals between SKA St. Petersburg and Yaroslavl Locomotiv.

Calle Jarnkrok was traded to Nashville with Patrick Eaves, and a 3rd round pick for David Legwand. Jarnkrok has 29 points in 71 games this season and had 30 in 81 games the previous season. I think 40-50 points is doable for Jarnkrok, on most nights he looks great for Nashville. He's also been receiving more ice-time since Ribeiro has been demoted to minors.

Career total are 40 goals 46 assists, 86 points in 246 games.

Mattias Janmark who missed the entire season thus far has been ruled for the remainder. He has injury on his knee before the season started and is yet to recover. In his rookie season with Dallas he had 29 points in 73 games.

He was positioned for a bigger role with Nichushkin opting for a return to Russia last summer. Hope he makes a full recovery, he had a very promising future ahead.

Mattias Janmark, Mattias Backman, and a 2nd round pick was sent to Dallas for Erik Cole and conditional pick.

Discipline committee deemed the hit was clean and waived the game misconduct.

Datsyuk also missed the third game of the Western conference finals with injury.
