What Doomed the Tigers : 10 deflators

how about 11 games all season with our best 9 hitters out there?

Did Brad really start Zimmerman twice down the strech ?
Yikes !!!

And I never did figure out where here was, he once said he's going to stick with what got us here. I was like where is here? On the outside looking in? Wuuuh, lol yeah yeah I'm sure it could be worse just wish he'd stop managing so poorly In Chicago every year.

I am curious who is included in those "best 9 hitters".

For instance...Away vs RHP (most difficult for DET to win)

V. Martinez .324 BAVG .399 OBP .529 SLG .928 OPS (.832 OPS Career)
N. Castellanos .304 BAVG .344 OBP .544 SLG .888 OPS (.723 OPS Career)
M. Cabrera .291 BAVG .370 OBP .516 SLG .886 OPS (.933 OPS Career)
I. Kinsler .260 BAVG .328 OBP .475 SLG .803 OPS (.723 OPS Career)
J.D. Martinez .253 BAVG .349 OBP .445 SLG .794 OPS (.802 OPS Career)
J. Upton .249 BAVG .297 OBP .482 SLG .779 OPS (.735 OPS Career)
J. Saltalamacchia .222 BAVG .310 OBP .444 SLG .754 OPS (.727 OPS Career)
S. Moya .250 BAVG .259 OBP .462 SLG .721 OPS (.770 OPS Career)

A. Gose .250 BAVG .313 OBP .386 SLG .699 OPS (.644 OPS Career)
T. Collins .235 BAVG .278 OBP .392 SLG .670 OPS (.863 OPS Career)

J. Iglesias .246 BAVG .304 OBP .313 SLG .617 OPS (.605 OPS Career)
A. Romine .236 BAVG .295 OBP .319 SLG .614 OPS (.567 OPS Career)
E. Aybar .212 BAVG .287 OBP .308 SLG .595 OPS (.687 OPS Career)
C. Maybin .225 BAVG .304 OBP .270 SLG .574 OPS (.669 OPS Career)
J. McCann .202 BAVG .248 OBP .311 SLG .559 OPS (.553 OPS Career)
C. McGehee .226 BAVG .226 OBP .226 SLG .452 OPS (.691 OPS Career)
M. Aviles .158 BAVG .238 OBP .193 SLG .431 OPS (.639 OPS Career)

I look at this list and see C, SS, CF and bench/role players incapable of hitting RHP Away. Who did we play at the end? RHP Away. Where was our best hitter against RHP Away (Victor)? On the bench waiting to pinch hit.

I'm talking about the lineup you'd pencil in during ST as our best lineup, we thought Gose would be playing a decent amount then but my point is that we weren't healthy. you can slice and dice a subset of numbers to support an argument but my point, again, is that we were not close to a healthy team this year and that bears the brunt of blame.

Very few teams make it through the season without few injuries or at least minimal players being out. It happens. It cannot be an excuse and should be expected. It is highly unrealistic to think you will go through a season without injuries.

Once J.D. was out, was Ausmus "forced" to play Aviles? And even if he was, at what point was it evident that Aviles wasn't getting the job done?
