AL Playoff Thread 2013

Updated

We now have a 3 way tie for the 2nd best record in the AL, Detroit has a 0.5 game lead over Texas, Boston, and Tampa. Texas has the head-to-head advantage over both so they'd get the nod for home-field in the first round. Boston would host the playoff game against Tampa, with the loser hosting the WC game and the winner facing Texas.

Updated

Boston takes the AL east lead again. Houston is close to elimination. The wild card might start to get interesting again, Oakland hasn't been doing that well recently and Cleveland, Baltimore, and the Yankees are closing in.

Boston reclaims the top spot in the AL East, also pulling ahead of Texas for the 2nd best record in the AL. That 2nd wild card spot is getting tighter with Cleveland 1.5 back, Baltimore 2 back, and NY 3.5 back. If the Tigers can take care of business vs Oakland this week, the wild card look a bit different come Friday.

Oakland @ Detroit - 4
Tampa @ KC (Makeup game today)
Baltimore @ Boston - 3

Just like that, Detroit drops from first to third. Boston is now in first and Texas holds the tiebreaker for 2nd over Detroit. Oakland is gaining on Tampa for the first wild card spot. Houston is finally eliminated from the AL West, they're still barely alive in the wild card, but could be gone as early as tonight.

No changes regarding playoff positioning. Both Boston and Detroit strengthen their divisional leads by a game.

Detroit has 26 games left, if they go 19-7 or better the rest of the way, they win the central. If Detroit goes .500 (13-13), Cleveland would need to go 23-4 or better to outright win the central, KC would need to go 25-2 or better to outright win the central.
