Colorado Rockies vs. Detroit Tigers, at Coors Field, August 30, 2017 Matchups.
Baseball Reference

Things to look for in this game
Mark Reynolds has three times as many at-bats against Verlander than any other Rockie, and has fared well against the Tigers' ace. Reynolds hits him at a .286 clip (6-for-21) with a home run and two RBIs.

Justin Upton is the only active Tiger with a hit against Bettis. He's 2-for-8 with a homer and three RBIs.

Verlander has gone at least six innings in his last eight starts going back to July 19, with 64 strikeouts in 56 innings.
Twenty-eight of those have come on his signature high-spin four-seamer,
the fourth-most strikeouts on four-seamers by any pitcher in that timespan. Those 28 fastballs have averaged an elite 2,568 rpm spin rate.

Ian Kinsler will get the day off and Miguel Cabrera will miss a second start after experiencing lower back tightness as the Detroit Tigers wrap up at three-game series against the Colorado Rockies.

Mikie Mahtook will move up to the lead-off spot, while Dixon Machado will bat second and play second base.

this home plate ump bruse dreckman is calling pitches strikes a half a foot inside to Tigers righty batters.

Verlander with an RBI single after rockies pitcher walked McCann and Iggy,

That is JV's 4th career hit and his first career RBI.

Tigers 1 - 0,

Man I wish I was home to see that.. I remember the days JV would be lucky to get his bat on the ball. Now 4 hits and an RBI.

There are times, streaks, Nick looks like an all-star. Shore up that defense next year and limit those 1 for 23 stretches and he can be a keeper.

Too many pitches 58, through 3 innings for JV.
Needs a couple of short pitch innings to go deeper,

You're both right, but they want to put him in right field.

Talk is, September 1st, with the call ups, they are thinking/planning on calling up the kid they got in the trade that supposedly plays third base.

JV with 76 pitches through 4,

at this rate he will be at 115 or so through 6

then the bullpen....

getting ready to leave for cigar night,

Hope Tigers and JV can get the Win,

Verlander only at 98 pitches after 6, but still gets pulled anyway. I hope the bp can hold it.
