Whats our record have to be last 25 games ro make the playoffs counting the caps win. 17-6-2 ? Or something close to that ?

For the wild card spot generally you need close to 100 points for the wild card spot.

Washington (85), Pittsburgh (80), Columbus (79) have the 3 Metro places guaranteed. NYR have 75 points which is more than the leader of Atlantic which should clinch them the wild card spot.

In Atlantic, Montreal (70), Ottawa (68), Florida (64), Boston (64).

Considering the second wild card spot is only 64, every team in the east could potentially move into it.

Most teams for wild card race are on pace for low 90s. Some team are bound to get hot and will be in the high 90s, a 100+ would be closer to clinching. Assuming 100 points as the golden mark, Detroit would need 44 points in 24 games.

You could go with a more conservative estimate of 95.

Detroit is still 37 points shy with 48 points total in play.

Detroit has not played at such a pace since the start of season (first 8 games).

Do NHL teams ever go from average to super awesome at this point in the season? I hope they make it even if it's a clean playoff sweep. Had hope they might get the best playoff streak in the NHL. It's Boston at 30, eh?

Last season Flyers went from 20-18-8 to 41-27-14 (96)

They were 26-21-11 (63) at the 58 game mark where Detroit is now.
