Lions sign Ricky Wagner RT - Now released Lions get 6.1 M cap space

Teams and players can not "negotiate". Teams are allowed to submit an offer to a free agent. The free agent is allowed to accept or deny, but not discuss a counter offer.

Teams cannot make any details of the deal public, nor can agents.

Neither can sign officially until 4pm EST tomorrow.

The rules make zero sense, but them's what they are. And it always ends up in the public early. Always.

Sounds like that have negotiated..

Lions agreed to terms with RT Rick Wagner on a multi-year deal worth in excess of $9 million annually.

If you gave me the choice between overpaying for Reiff, Warford, or Wagner...I take Wagner. Not going to complain, we have young talent (not filler, but talent) at both ends on the offensive line locked up for a few years. Can't remember the last time I said that.

Complete upgrade over Reiff. Only thing that worries me is that Wagner is a "he's good every other yrs player". One yr he's great then the next he's not...lol. Still like the signing though.

That beats the " never great" Reiff

Officially, both sides will say the team submitted a proposal, and the player accepted. No negotiations involved.

Everyone knows it's bullshit, but that's the "story".

Plus if Miami didn't get penalized for signing Suh I suspect nothing happens here..
