They really never were in the EU.

Not really.

They kept their own money - pansy alliance from the get go.

Most of the proletarian don't even consider themselves even to be part of Europe.

It's kinda that way with stupid people everywhere. Here in Texas, only the really dumb people (granted there are more here than elsewhere) honestly believe they'd be better off if they seceded.

reminds me of that one Right-wing blogger in Alabama a while back, who was threatening Obama, complaining about taxes, demanding a revolution, advocating violence against democrats/liberals/etc, and it turned out he was sitting at home, unemployed, living on federal disability payments and SS due to his poor health. some people are so ungrateful.

I could see the dumbass Brits pushing for BREXIT plagiarizing the declaration of independence word-for-word, and angrily (& drunkenly) denying it.

"Look, you even forgot to change the reference to "we the representatives of the United States of America" here."

They are part of the EU, just not part of the common currency or the Eurozone. But to your point, they weren't a good fit and got little benefit from it.

They would be smart to leave because otherwise they will ultimately have to give up British Common Law and adopt whatever legal system the EU ultimately forces onto it's member states as well as their own currency. They end up subsidizing poor southern european countries especially those that cheat on EU policies like Greece, Italy, Spain and Portugal by running massive deficits from absurdly generous public pensions and other failed social programs and end up needing bailouts every 10 years or so.

Yeah, what a disaster that has been - I completely ignored that fact. If they were to switch to the right side (where right has more than one meaning) and all the former colonies that haven't switched followed suit, then it might be worth it for them to stay.
 
I'm not familiar with Britain's demographics. Does anyone know why Scotland and London were overwhelmingly in favor of staying with EU while the rest of the country is in favor leaving?
 
Now there's talk of Scotland leaving and Irish reunification.
