Tigers bats have strucked out 13 times tonight and another inning yet to add to that

After two consecutive wins the Tigers probability of making the postseason doubled.

The stats haven't been updated yet but chances are of things are gonna look worse when they are.

Michael Fulmer, the Tigers' most reliable starter in 2017, gave up six earned runs in six innings and lost his third consecutive start in a 7-3 loss to the New York Yankees Monday night at Yankee Stadium.

Kinsler botched an easy unassisted double play opportunity, Fulmer doubled his trouble with walks and just like that, the game was out of reach.

James McCann extended his career-long hitting streak to 10 games with a double to open the scoring in the fourth inning and Jim Adduci delivered an RBI single to pull the Tigers within three runs in the seventh inning.

Tigers center fielder Mikie Mahtook was hit square in the helmet by a 98 mph fastball from Yankees reliever Tommy Kahnle in the fifth inning. He got up quickly, screamed several F Bombs and started walking to first base before realizing that he had left his helmet on the ground. Athletic trainer Kevin Rand rushed out, probably thinking that Mahtook was woozy. But after he passed a concussion quiz, he stayed in the game.

An inning later, righty Dellin Betances went up and in on Miguel Cabrera, irking him.

Retaliation was inevitable, and it happened on the first pitch of the seventh inning, when Tigers starter Michael Fulmer hit Yankees center fielder Jacoby Ellsbury.
Ellsbury brushed himself off and went to first. Both teams were warned, and that was the end of it.

The Tigers made Severino work, seeing 116 pitches in five innings. He hit a batter and walked three, but only allowed four hits and one run.
Twice he struck out designated hitter Victor Martinez — with the bases loaded and two outs in the first, and with two on and two out in the fifth.

Dixon Machado replaced Jose Iglesias at shortstop in the sixth shortly after Iglesias struck out in the top of the inning. There was no immediate word on the reason for Iglesias' absence.

Tigers right fielder Jim Adduci made an incredible leaping catch in the sixth inning to rob Todd Frazier of a home run. Adduci perfectly timed his leap against the right field fence and fought off a couple fans (one of whom had brought a glove) to bring down the ball.

The Tigers recalled catcher John Hicks and reliever Joe Jimenez before the game to take the place of two traded players. Neither of the newcomers played Monday night.

Tigers Mikie Mahtook drilled in helmet with pitch, shouts multiple ‘F-Bombs’.
DSN

ROARS:
James McCann: He struck out three times, but also drove in the Tigers’ first run with a two-out double in the top of the fourth.

Nick Castellanos: He reached base four times. It’s not his fault no one drove him in.

Jim Adduci: It could have been worse if not for Adduci.

HISSES:
Michael Fulmer: He didn’t have his best stuff tonight, and it showed. Fulmer gave up a season-high six earned runs in six innings for his ninth loss of the year.

Everyone else: It feels wrong to have three roars and only one hiss in a game this bad, but there’s not really anyone to single out. Victor Martinez had a night to forget, if we’re naming names.

Curious to see how pitching is effected by not having Avila behind the plate.
