Happy Birthday Don Kelly

I don't get the Don Kelly hate. He is a good bench player due to his versatility. The problem is he should be the last guy / worst bench player on a team that makes it because of his versatility. On the Tigers he is the best bench player which says a lot about the lack of depth on this team and the lack of quality in the farm system.

I saw the link for the t-shirt and was prepared to leave it here in the don kelly b-day thread. as long as there were no other advertising links posted.

As of right now, who do you think is the backup to 3B and corner OF on this team?

He certainly makes the team just because of those two elements. He also can play a passing CF.

At no time should he be a starter for an extended time frame. None. But neither is R. Davis, S. Lombardozzi, D. Worth, B. Holaday, etc, etc.

Here is the worst part of this team, bench and depth of farm! DD had enough time to build this up! But now the Tigers R scrapping for a shortstop and leftfielder, really a backup catcher most of the time!. And should Avila not hold up?! Heck the starters health is of some concern Anibal.

Well I suggested the ban hammer because the poster who added the link is not a member of this forum. It's not someone who will join our discussions, argue with us, post stats, etc.

It's simply someone who created an account to get free advertizing, such as the others we often get. They basically do web searches to seek out their criteria, register, then post links on Monster's/Admin's website.

Someone interviewed (can't remember who or where I read it) said they thought Don Kelly would benefit nicely from working with Wally Joyner on hitting. Something about leveling off his swing and using all fields. Hope they're right, because he is versatile defensively, if nothing else. Getting 30 more points out of his average would be a welcome surprise.

He will be the emergency setup man to add to his resume.
