Lions have the second-toughest schedule in 2013

If you thought the Detroit Lions 4-12 record in 2012 would make the schedule in 2013 a little easier ? think again.

The Lions will have the second-toughest schedule in the NFL next season based on opponents? strength of schedule in 2012.

Lions opponents next season had a combined 138-118 record (.539) in 2012. The New Orleans Saints and St. Louis Rams are tied with the Lions for the second spot.

The Carolina Panthers have the toughest schedule with their opponents going 138-116-2 this past season.

Here are the Lions? 2013 opponents:

Home: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Dallas Cowboys, New York Giants, Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Away: Chicago Bears, Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Redskins, Cleveland Browns, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals

Yikes, looks like a top 5 pick again. I cannot fathom how they pick up 8 wins, let alone a winning season.

depending on how the offseason goes, that schedule looks to me like every game has a chance of being won and every game could go down as a loss. NFC East is not as strong as recent history would indicate. AFC North is tough, but steelers and ravens will not be as strong next year and bengals and browns are still the bengals and browns. both tampa and arizona could go either way depending on cardinals offseason (primarily getting a QB, which they undoubtedly will). as for NFC North...can't do worse than last year right? so they will hopefully do better instead of the same.

anywhere from 2 to 12 wins. so much depends on offseason still, and of course lions and opponent injuries at time of game.

You never know how teams are going to be when they actually start playing games.

I don't have any win expectations for next year. Just hoping like hell they atone for that shitshow that was the Arizona game.

I was thinking between 1-13 wins but I wouldn't have the guts to pick like zyxt9.

You figure they need to go 6-2 at home and 4-4 on the road to be a playoff team. I ain't seein' it.

Stop being hard on z. I agree with him. I see between 2 and 12 wins too....

for some reason this reminded me of when Mugatu told Derrick Zoolander that he was absolutely right when the building had to be atleast 3 times that size.

There are a lot of winnable games, enough to get to the playoffs. But like most years there are lots of games that could be lost. I doubt many picked 10 wins in '11 and I doubt many picked 4 wins in '12. And Minny could suck again, TB, AZ, Cinci and the Browns are certainly winnable. Cowboys, Redskins and Chicago at home, winnable. Even the Eagles on the road. I could see us winning 9 or 10 but that 0-8 to close out '12 was not a fluke. So I could see us back in the top 5.

I wanted so badly to pick 6 wins last year....but I succumbed to pear pressure listening to all you guys drink the kool aid and went with 9 :/ I did say 4 wins after the 1-3 start.
