2018 football stuff

There have been a few reports from OLs about how Warriner has simplified things, and it's working better.

From what Spanellis described, sounds like last year Drevno would layer concepts on, and not drill them thoroughly enough, so that would leave half the line not knowing their assignments on any given play.

Winovich said something about not getting the QB as easily in practice this year, as he did last year, and added he wasn't going to say any more about it.

painful that we'd have such incompetent coaching given what we pay some of these shitheads. For Harbaugh seeing the OL practice all week and waiting to see how they played on Saturday must've been like watching a slow-motion trainwreck.

chances we win all three games are then... hmmm...

4.3% ... right?

the article you posted linked to another ranking strength of schedule according to opponents' records last year.

on paper, We're 2nd in the Big Ten and 3rd in the nation.

Nebraska is 1 & 2 respectively (FSU has the toughest schedule in the nation)

Ohio State? 87th toughest schedule in the country and 2nd easiest in the Big Ten (Wisconsin is 99th and 1st) kinda surprising OSU is that low, but they play Oregon State (1-11) and Tulane (5-7) OOC... and miss Wisconsin & Northwestern. Wisconsin's schedule is pathetic, but they do in theory have enough tough road games to deal them a couple losses despite their easy schedule.

Our schedule is going to be like climbing Mt. Everest...

so does Notre Dame qualify as a big game? I'm asking in advance, so we can see if Harbaugh can win a big game

I remember going into last season, the Florida game was looked at as a big game. Michigan won, but later Florida tanked, so it was considered to not be a big game after the fact...

Rivalry = big game

Jim Harbaugh listed around 20 walk-ons who were "knocking on the door" for playing time or have impressed him on his podcast this week.

I'm sorry ... the number was probably closer to 30. Maybe more.

Harbaugh: "We posted it for the squad, so they know who was in the 110 as of June 1 and who is not in the 110 as of June 1. We do expect there will be movement, we hope it ignites competition in the summer."

Harbaugh: "There already are scholarship players who aren't in the 110 and there are walk-ons, preferred walk-ons and tryout guys who are in the 110."

"If you really want to play football and contribute (then that list) is tremendous motivation."

Harbaugh will make his decision on the final 110 roster about a week before fall camp begins.

"The competitive waters are hot."

Things sound rather fluid.

I remember reading a bad Jeff George story here before, but I can't remember if you shared it or someone else did.

Probably me. My family has known him since the mid-80s. My uncle and him went to rival high schools in Indy at the same time. Both were really good athletes, so they knew the same people and ended up hanging around each other by association. My uncle describes him as "the most arrogant, despicable jackass you could ever hope to meet".
