Definitely living in an alternate universe relative to the expectations at the start of the year.

Has the team with the #1 defense not made the playoffs in any previous season? They would have to have a top 5 worst offense to make that happen, right??? Only the Lions...

No kidding... who would have thought we'd be sitting here at 7-4 with the #1 D and something like the #28 O, and probably on the outside looking in for the playoffs?

1. Score a touchdown
We've come to this. That's how bad the Lions' offense has been. It's not about a player, or a position group, or a matchup. Just score a touchdown. That's a key for Detroit's dysfunctional offense.

The Lions haven't scored an offensive touchdown in two straight games, the first time that's happened in 21 years. They've gone 22 drives without reaching the end zone.

Their point totals dropped four straight weeks before rebounding last week to ... nine points. In a 25-point loss.

Tally it all up, and the Lions' highly touted and even higher-priced offense has plunged to dead last in the NFC at 17.9 points per game. The only teams worse are the AFC's Titans, Jets, Raiders and Jaguars, who combine for a record of 6-38 and occupy three division cellars.

That's some kind of company.

From MLIVE. Nobody could have predicted we would be this bad

I predicted wed struggle on offense. I got flamed for it and people brushed it off. I didn't think itd last this long. The fact its getting worse mean Lombardi has no idea what hes doing...whatsoever.

You got lucky due to injuries of Waddle, Reiff, Warford, Calvin and Bush/Riddick. You are about to be dead wrong when this offense explodes the next five weeks.

3rd WR sucks with Ross/Broyles. Big deal. Fuller showing some things at times this season when needed.

It's gotta be coaching right? I mean we really made no upgrades on defense but now we fire Gunther and we have the #1 D in the league. Now we also get a new O coordinator and we are terrible on offense.

Caldwell is an offensive guy isnt he?

At some point he has to pull the play calling and make the calls himself

Yes...LKP said he was the one who fixed Peyton Manning. I think he still has a little tweaking to do with Matt Stafford.

Stafford is fine. It would be nice to have protection or run support. Five weak defenses coming up is the best medicine.

You repeatedly said that this team was "holeless".

No protection & bad running game...that does not sound like a "holeless" team.

Stafford...he is ranked in the bottom 10 QBs this year. He is not fine...he has sucked this year.

Injuries to Warford, Reiff, Waddle and Bush. And Calvin too hurt run game. Holeless but hurt.

Not only is he ranked in the bottom, he's near the bottom. Year 6. He's a veteran, not a kid anymore. And he has yet to live up to his billing.

Not really, he sucked as the O coordinator in Baltimore rumor was they were going to fire him if the Lions hadn't hired him. Caldwell is not a good offensive minded coach, his offense in Indy after Peyton left was also crap..Peyton Manning is what made Caldwell not the other way around IMO.

Baltimore's offense was horrendous something like 25th ranked with Caldwell at the helm. Kubiak comes in and they've been on fire all year and Flacco is back to looking like the guy who won a SB. If they don't get a guy who has actually called plays in the NFL in there, then the team is doomed for years to come. You just can't waste the defensive effort they've put up this year. It's so frustrating and disappointing to watch. We've waited a lifetime to have a good D and when if finally happens we are saddled with an offense that can't even score a point. It's almost like a cruel joke to our long suffering fan base

its odd that im always getting lucky. Isnt it when youre ALWAYS lucky...and end up being correct....its really more realistic. At this point being lucky would mean something I say doesn't happen.
