And It Begins...

Hmmm... Smart kids... Why would anybody in their right mind sign up for Michigan football right now? No doubt it will go through another transition. What would you tell your son in his high school senior year?

Yet another reason to pull the plug now. Not to charm or appease any particular recruit, but to avoid a talent void.

Can't say I blame any of them. I wouldn't want my son to go play for Michigan right now.

I would. Have to figure they have tons of young talent that the coach they bring in for next season will be able to maximize. If my son was remotely thinking UM, I'd be all for it. Their next coach will have many talented players who just need to learn how to execute properly.

It will all start with the OL, which new coaches will vastly improve and re-evaluate who actually should start. The new OC would recognize an improved OL will open running lanes and the current RBs will take advantage. The new coach will be open minded about competition between Morris and Speight (right now my money would be on Speight starting as a red shirt frosh and playing 4 straight years...which with the young talent around the team should yield some serious runs at championships by the time my son is part of that winning program). Butt at TE is a solid threat for either QB, as is Funchess...just need another WR to step up.

The D is looking much better as they have developed. There are some weaknesses still, obviously, but the youthful talent especially at CB should yield some very stout D in the next few years.

The team is actually poised to have tons of success with a new coach who is able to actually get the players to improve after high school.

And I would encourage my son to commit before the new coach is named, because if the new coach is a big name like a Harbaugh, you could see that be reason enough for some kids who decommit now to try and recommit. Better to have your kid already committed and taking up a slot than trying to compete for a slot after the big name coach is named. And if the name isn't good enough, then decommit and look to play elsewhere. Yes it is a roll of the dice, but the future of UM football actually is still very bright.

Fair enough. ;)

Luckily for me and my son, he's only 8 and has a while before having to make that choice. Hee ;)

Darrin Kirkland visiting ND tomorrow. Per Hoke's visit rule, that's four commits down. Neat.

As we said with the others earlier in the week, not surprising and can't blame them.

It's a small class, but we need to fill it, and not with "depth guys" a la Rodriguez's 2010 class.

The reason the kids are taking visits elsewhere is because Michigan sucks

Who cares what Hoke's policy is when the team looks like shit? I would be taking visits elsewhere too.

Miserable.

Sorry I have no issue with 17 year olds looking around
Regardless of our situation

Unjust dint get hung up as much in recruiting rankings especially given that we haven't lived up to ours

Let's get a coach who can do something
