our stupid "9 defense"? granted the big splits have helped with some big plays on passing downs like the KVB strip sack and the Avril sack today.....BUUUUUUUuuuuuttt its also caused much more big plays for the opponent. It basically paves the way for a superhighway right thru our dline. That coupled with spievey being able to tackle like a 3yr old girl means Gore and now Turner shred us for huge gains and change the complexion of the game.

Both games were earily similar to me. We did a great job on D for most of the game. Ryan/white connection was shut down for the most part and gawd knows alex smith sucked the entire game.....yet the other team won with big plays. The turner big run hurt....the gore 2 big runs hurt....and its simply cause were lining up like a bunch of buffoons. Theyre beat before they even snap the ball.

Ill stick with the defensive side of the ball in this thread but im really questioning both coordinators on our team. Im over the shotgun/pistol offense. and im over the "9 defense" aka...make the splits wide enough so Turners fat ass can run right thru you.

yes, it's concerning......plus i feel STILL we're not getting nearly enough pressure coming out of that formation. but also, the defensive tackles are getting caught chasing the quarterback upfield at inopportune times, and we're getting gashed for big plays right where they're supposed to be.

williams and especially suh needs to stay at home more, play the run FIRST before getting after the opposing signal caller......because i'm starting to feel teams maybe have caught on to this very thing and probably are allowing our dt's deep into the backfield so they can hit us with the run game where they aren't.....

All you guys talk bad about spievey but I think he has done a great job compared to last year. And it can only get better

almost every big play we gave up this year was directly due to spievey and him doing the opposite of a great job. Today he whiffed on the Turner big run and he got toasted on the big pass play once Ryan got back in the game. Last week he whiffed in the hole on the Gore big run. Earlier this year he got beat like a step child on playaction and gave up a big TD pass right over his head. The people that say hes doing a great job dont watch what really happened on the play that caused it to be such a big play. Ill give you a hint....most of the time its either spievey or Levy.

explain to me how the pass and catch made by Douglass was Spieveys fault.

it's a 2 deep zone where both Safeties split the field deep and the CB gets absolutley abused on a deep in....Spievey has to make the tackle or it's 6.

stop making shit up....the replays right there...seriously explain to me how it's Spieveys fault.

ummm its right in the name of his position....hes a safety. He had 1 fucking route to read and let the guy go over the middle and catch the ball over the corner. Then he was in no mans land and let the guy run 30 more yards. Dude, dont even try to stick up for his play...its been awful. The only time he makes a play is when his soft ass coverage puts him in the right spot and the opposing QB overshoots his receiver by 10 or more yards lol. It happened today on his pick and it happened the other week on his pick.

watch the whole replay reel and if you wanna bitch about a Safety , bitch about Delmas being late getting to Roddy White in the end zone for his TD.

He is in a 2 deep zone you fuck tard.

his respnsibility is wide as the widest and deep as the deepest...he is supposed to keep everything in front of him..not try and jumop a route.

my god some of you clowns have never played the game before have you.

Since you posted the link, i suggest you scroll down a couple highlights and watch the solo replay. It shows the angle from a safeties perspective. Spievey has 1 fucking WR on that side of the field running a route more than 2 yards....he blows the coverage....badly.

he has deep responsibilty to his side , along with Delmas on the other side...

he keeps everything in FRONT of him...you DO NOT jump a route.

Chris Houston gives the inside away like a beaten mule.

seriously , have you played the game ?

played for quite a long time...including DB.

He definitely didnt keep everything infront of him. When youre cover 2 and theres only one route to your side....then any safety in the league would play that guy and not drift to the sideline leaving the entire middle of the field wide open. It was a bad defensive play. watch it again...

whatever you say idiot....he's 18 yards off the ball on the snap with deep half responsibilty...he's not back there to jump an inside route...it's Houston responsibilty to not give up the inside like a 2 dollar whore..

but hey lay the blame on Spievey...cause your the only one doing so...learn the fucking game.

While youre at it watch the turner run....youll probably tell me its not his job to tackle a guy 1 on 1 in the open field either.

jump an inside route? now your sounding like an idiot...the pass was like 20+ yards down the field lol. How deep do you want him to play???

so what he blew a tackle fuck head....the kid does a decent job back there for being a 2nd year guy who moved positions.

Turner 1 on 1 with a Saftey wins that battle 7 of 10 times anyway.

it's and inside route goof....and your blaming him for a complete pass on Houston...for him to break the pass up , he'd have to jump the route...he was deep and came up after the ball was caught...he doesnt make the tackle it's 6.

Houston got abused.

its actually called man under. Meaning the safety is supposed to help over the top. Spievey was way out of position and was no help at all on a simple 1 man route to that side of the field. Hes terrible. Im going to bed to dream about Spievey driving a bus filled with backus and raoila over a cliff. night night sweet tits.

And how many other guys whiffed on tackles today?? From what I've seen, on the big runs Suh just runs right by the rb. Seems like he plays pass on every play. He needs to get his head in the game.

As far as the wide 9 I like it. I think it works well. Obvious we still have a hole or two on defense so they won't be perfect but it's a good defense for our team.
