Per Rivals:

Michigan basketball class of 2013 commitment Austin Hatch is reportedly ready to head home from the hospital. Hatch has been recovering from a head injury suffered in a June 24 plane crash that claimed the lives of his father and stepmother.

JucoRecruiting.com reports Fort Wayne (Ind.) Canterbury head coach Dan Kline as saying Hatch would return to Fort Wayne Oct. 9 from Traverse City (Mich.) Munson Medical Center.

"Austin is steadily improving in all dimensions," the family wrote Sept. 23 on CaringBridge.org. "While there are tough moments,he responds quickly by keeping his eye on the prize - getting home ASAP."

The family also reported on Sept. 23 that Hatch began aquatic therapy, while also staying in touch with friends via cell phone. Earlier they said he enjoyed the Michigan - Notre Dame football game while eating Buffalo Wild Wings.

It's really too bad that this brave kid will never play again. Hopefully he can just live a normal life. My prayers are with him.
