Matthew Stafford - QB - Lions

Matthew Stafford plans to continue to wear gloves as he plays through a fractured index finger on his right (throwing) hand.
"It's not really strong enough or healthy enough to grip without them," he said. Stafford reiterated that the broken finger did not cause his inaccuracy against the Bears in Sunday's blowout loss. "It had nothing to do with throwing interceptions. When I went out there and played I didn

Has any starting NFL QB ever before worn gloves in a game, even in sub-freezing/zero temps?

How can you get a "feel" for the football with them on? If wearing them poses no problem, then why wouldn't they have often been worn by other NFL QBs in the above mentioned temps, when the football is hard and ice-cold and very difficult to grip tightly when grabbing it to pass?

I played pickup football games as a kid with others in my old neighborhood in Detroit during the winter once in a while, the football transferred its coldness to my bare hands in no time flat, even when sticking my hands in my coat pockets before and after handling the football, and obviously we didn't play our pickup street football games even remotely as long or like they do in the NFL

I feel like somebody wears them all the time which I thought odd and I know Big Ben rocks gloves on both hands when it's colder. If I knew how to post pics I'd show you one of Roethlisberger...

I found a few pics of Kurt Warner wearing 'em on both hands too...

I just remembered seeing QBs with hand-warmers tied to their waists during cold-weather games, but if a QB like Warner wore gloves, it would seem to be distinct disadvantage to me, unless their hands are very large in size when compared to the average NFL QB.

Kurt warner wore them his last two seasons in the league.

Beat me to it. Big Ben also like someone mentioned....

He just needs to get used to the feel of the gloves and he should be fine.

What i find funny, is that he claims he hasn't talked to Megatron about his injury...lol. Whoever believes that is delusional. He's their #1 lethal weapon. You think those two aren't in each others ear every single fn day? Don't believe a word Staff says. He's playin' everybody.
