Big Blow to the Ravens

Upshaw gets thrown directly into the fray. Very tough loss though, Tsizzle is one of the league's best.

lol Suggs says he was injured running a conditioning test. My best is his contract has some language in that that says if he is injured doing something non football related he wont get paid

Most likely.

But doesnt that nullify the contract making him a fa if hey chose to enforce it?

Upshaw...defensive ROY...book it

He's not gonna start in place of Suggs, he's taking over Jarrett Johnson's spot, so he's not gonna have high sack totals. DROY usually gets lots of picks, lots of sacks, or lots of tackles. I don't think the position he'll play will help him stand out in any of those. Look for someone like Luke Kuechly to win. He'll get about 130 tackles if they stick him at ILB considering how bad the interior of that line is. Look at what James Anderson did there last year.

Doesn't mean Upshaw won't play the best. But of course, thats not really how DROY is judged anymore (if ever). Its usually a statistical thing, unfortunately.

"The Ravens drafted former Alabama linebacker Courtney Upshaw but he is expected to replace outside linebacker Jarret Johnson, who signed with the San Diego Chargers. Candidates to take over Suggs' spot are Paul Kruger, Sergio Kindle and Michael McAdoo." -ESPN's article on Sugg's injury

So while Sugg's injury might give Upshaw a little more playing time, Upshaw was already expected to get a lot of playing time

I just this posted earlier and though it was funny:

"He trashed Tebow verbally and then this is announced on National Prayer Day? Just Sayin"

Can't wait for the "we should of taken Upshaw" threads....

I wont go that far cause i love the Reiff selection. But when all those DEs were falling, my first thought was "man were gonna end up with a talented guy at DE". The position will need to be addressed soon....KVB is on his last legs, who knows what happens with Avril and Lojack is on a contract year. With the way Schwartz likes to rotate his dlinemen we could need atleast 3 more DEs by next year.

I would have bet the farm we were taking V Curry in the 2nd

I try and not predict what we will do in draft anymore because I swear MM likes to make 1 or 2 where did that come from picks per draft.
